The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing the Bay County Council on Aging as a PSC Helping Hand for helping raise awareness about energy and water conservation, utility impersonation scams, and the Lifeline Assistance telephone discount program.
“Helping Hand partnerships celebrate successful PSC education outreach efforts with agencies like the Bay County Council on Aging,” said PSC Chairman Andrew Fay. “We appreciate the Council’s collaboration during National Consumer Protection Week this month to reach those who can benefit from our consumer resources on Florida’s west coast.”
Each quarter, the PSC highlights a partner agency or organization whose clients are eligible for the federal Lifeline Assistance program or need help reducing energy and water bills. Through PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission helps educate consumers on how to avoid scams and stretch their resources to meet monthly bills.
“We are pleased to be named a PSC Helping Hand, and thank the PSC for this recognition,” said Regina Seamster, Senior Services Administrator. “PSC information assists in the Council’s goal to help its elderly, disabled and disadvantaged clients maintain their independence, health and quality of life. Learning to identify scams and strategies to save money on utility services helps meet this goal.”
