LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, issued a statement following Governor DeSantis’ signing of SB 102.
The following statement is attributable to President and CEO Steve Bahmer.
“On behalf of more than 125 communities and organizations that provide affordable housing to low-income seniors, we are grateful for Governor DeSantis’ support of Senate Bill 102 and for him signing it into law today. Every step we take toward increasing the supply of affordable housing in Florida is a critical one, particularly given the reality that older adults can spend as many as five years or more on a waiting list before housing becomes available.
We are also very grateful to Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, Senator Alexis Calatayud and Representative Demi Busatta Cabrera for their leadership in guiding this important piece of legislation through the process, and we look forward to continuing to work with them on solutions to help ensure seniors have access to safe, affordable housing.”
