Amscot Financial’s ‘Just a Dollar’ Campaign Raises Over $159,000 to Benefit Local Students and Schools

Posted on March 31, 2023

Throughout the month of February, Amscot Financial asked its customers to contribute $1 to their local education foundation in order to provide support for students and teachers when school budgets fall short and tax dollars won’t allow. With the first $50,000 matched by Amscot Financial, 2023 contributions now total $159,081.12. Now in its second decade, Amscot Financial’s ‘Just a Dollar’ campaign has raised more than $1.5 million over the years to benefit students throughout the company’s 21-county service territory.

“We conduct this campaign to recognize the generosity of our customers, who make a tremendous difference in the lives of students in our community,” said Ian MacKechnie, founder and CEO of Amscot Financial. “Anyone can see the importance of investing in local students – and people throughout the community are eager to give back. It’s up to all of us to fill the gap where school budgets and tax dollars don’t fully meet the students’ needs.”

Local education foundations will use the funds to support students, teachers, and schools through programs such as teacher supply stores that help teachers provide classroom materials to students with limited access to such items.

“Our local schools are especially appreciative of this support because it can be invested in the areas where it’s needed most. While needs may be different in rural communities than they are in urban areas, donors can rest assured that every dollar raised will remain in the communities where they contributed and used to meet local student needs,” said Mary Chance, President of the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, the statewide organization that distributes the funds raised by Amscot.
