Today, April 18, is National Lineman Appreciation Day. This annual celebration highlights our often unrecognized lineworkers for their dedicated daily work to keep the lights on. The Florida Public Service Commission thanks lineworkers in Florida and across the country today, and everyday, for their commitment.
“We often focus on the amazing work of our lineworkers during disaster relief, but it is their daily commitment to keeping the lights on the makes their work so impressive,” said PSC Chairman Andrew Fay. “Let’s take today, National Lineman Appreciation Day, to thank the hard-working men and women who keep our power flowing.”
Lineworkers are responsible for constructing, operating, and maintaining equipment and power lines in utilities’ service territories. Lineworkers are trained to work safely and efficiently in all kinds of extreme conditions. Using the latest technologies, lineworkers can quickly restore power after a storm and help return normalcy to families, communities, and businesses nationwide.
You don’t have to know a lineman to celebrate this day. You can reach out to lineworkers on social media with #ThankALineman.
