Statement by Destinations Florida Regarding the Legislature Funding Visit Florida at $80 Million

Posted on April 28, 2023

“Destinations Florida applauds the Florida Senate, Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, the Florida House of Representatives and Speaker of the House Paul Renner for agreeing to fund Visit Florida at $80 million next fiscal year. Funding for Visit Florida initiatives helps attract visitors to Florida and plays a critical role in generating local and state revenue that keeps the tax base low for residents, including more than $1,500 in tax savings every year, for every Florida family.

By funding Visit Florida at an unprecedented level, our state lawmakers are recognizing that tourism is the lifeblood of Florida’s economy – generating nearly 30 percent of our state’s tax revenues and employing more than 1.7 million Floridians.

We also want to express our gratitude to Governor Ron DeSantis who has demonstrated his unwavering support for the tourism industry during his years in office and, this year, for his strong budget recommendation for Visit Florida funding.”

Destinations Florida is the statewide association that serves local tourism promotion organizations. It serves as the unifying voice representing Florida’s destination marketing organizations and strives to increase the effectiveness of local tourism promotion organizations’ efforts.
