Each May, the Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) joins in the nationwide Older Americans Month (OAM) celebration. Established to recognize older Americans’ contributions to their communities, OAM is an opportunity for the PSC to celebrate seniors and support their active, independent lifestyles.
“We will continue to support older Floridians by providing assistance through in person visits to local senior and community centers,” said PSC Chairman Andrew Fay. “I am encouraging these community centers to reach out to our office so we can schedule a visit to your location, and provide assistance to your constituents.”
PSC representatives will visit senior and community centers in Clay, Lake, and Leon Counties to talk with visitors about energy and water conservation to lower utility bills, how to recognize and protect against scams, and the Lifeline Assistance program to receive discounted phone/broadband service. Older residents in Collier County will also receive PSC assistance during a virtual meeting on May 15.
Visit the PSC’s website, www.FloridaPSC.com, for information to support seniors’ utility-related concerns.
