Floridians across the state exercised their right to peaceful protest today further showing their opposition to the new anti-immigration law, SB 1718. State Representative Susan L. Valdés (D-Tampa) issued the following statement:
“Today’s protests across the state are delivering a resounding message: Floridians are against this anti-immigrant law because they know it’s bad for business and bad for families.
“My eyes watered when I saw the peaceful manifestation of this humble and hardworking community, their families, and their supporters here in my district. Many Latinos in Florida come from beautiful immigrant backgrounds. Do not underestimate the power of the Latino vote.
“I stand in solidarity with our thriving and vibrant immigrant community and their allies as they exercise their right to free speech. ¡Si se puede!”
