LeadingAge Florida, Florida’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, offered its appreciation today to Governor DeSantis for signing the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) Legislation (CS/CS/HB 1573) into law. The new law will help ensure the future viability and financial strength of the CCRC model in Florida.
The legislation, championed by LeadingAge Florida, its members, and the Florida Life Care Resident’s Association, includes reforms that will benefit both senior living communities and the residents they serve.
“We are grateful for the Governor’s unwavering support of Florida’s senior living communities,” said Steve Bahmer, LeadingAge Florida President and CEO. “Florida’s CCRCs serve more than 30,000 older adults, and this new law will help streamline the process of expansion, among other provisions, to help ensure that Florida seniors have a robust array of high-quality senior living options available to them.
We also extend our gratitude to our bill sponsors, Rep. Jenna Persons-Mulicka and Sen. Clay Yarborough for their leadership, and the members of the Florida Legislature for their collaboration in advancing this important legislation.”
For 60 years, LeadingAge Florida has been the state’s leading advocate for high-quality senior living, aging services and care.
