LeadingAge Florida Recognizes the Best in Aging Services at Its 60th Annual Convention and Exposition

LeadingAge Florida, the state’s only association representing the entire continuum of care for older adults, recognized outstanding senior living communities, employees, and residents during its 60th Annual Convention and Exposition in Orlando. These prestigious awards recognize outstanding organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of aging services in Florida. The winners were honored for their dedication, innovation, and commitment to enhancing the lives of older adults.

“These award recipients embody the spirit of excellence and innovation in aging services,” said said LeadingAge Florida President & CEO Steve Bahmer. “We are proud to recognize their outstanding achievements and contributions to the well-being of older adults in our state. Their dedication and passion inspire us all to continue striving for excellence in our work.”

LeadingAge Florida recognized:

  • Caregiver of the Year – Karen Young – St. Andrews Estates, Boca Raton, for demonstrating extraordinary dedication, compassion, and selflessness in her role as a caregiver.
  • Distinguished Service – Sunnyside Village, Sarasota, for their disaster relief efforts for communities and staff following Hurricane Ian.
  • Emerging Leader – Aimee Rubinstein – amavida senior living, Ft. Myers, for her successful transition from a career outside of aging services to becoming one of her communities’ key leader with measurable accomplishments.
  • Employee of the Year – Rocco Voglio, Westminster St. Augustine, for creating new dining structures and programs that increased participation and satisfaction among the community’s residents.
  • Executive of the Year – Rachel Blumberg – Sinai Residences, Ft. Myers, for her effective leadership skills, the ability to inspire and motivate employees, and fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Innovation Award – Terry Rogers – Westminster Communities of Florida, Orlando, for identifying and implementing innovative programs and services to better serve Westminster residents and team members.
  • Service Coordinator of the Year – Delia Sanchez – Palermo Lakes, Miami, for her compassion helping seniors navigate the complexities of affordable housing programs and resources.
  • Volunteer of the Year – Flora Mummery – East Ridge at Cutler Bay, Cutler Bay, for her countless hours helping residents and acting as a trusted go-between for residents and management.

For 60 years, LeadingAge Florida has been the state’s leading advocate for high-quality senior living, aging services and care. We are the only statewide association representing the full continuum of care for seniors. The Association provides up-to-date regulatory information, a wide variety of educational opportunities, representation before the Legislature and government agencies, group purchasing services, and opportunities for networking with peers to help member communities best serve the needs of Florida’s senior population.
