Springwood Villas provides a great location and many excellent amenities for its residents, while also focusing on ways to save energy and money for the community. To recognize its energy upgrades and conservation efforts, Springwood Villas is receiving the Florida Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Triple E Award for Energy Efficiency Efforts.
Springwood Villas, located in Pinellas Park, consulted with Duke Energy on ways to improve energy efficiency and reduce costs. As a result, Springwood upgraded its community center HVAC systems, upgraded three small heat pumps, upgraded clubhouse insulation, and also repaired five HVAC units.
“We’re so pleased with our energy efficiency upgrades that we’re now concentrating on window repairs and tinting to further curb energy usage,” said Jennifer Hanks, President, Springwood Villas. “Our residents appreciate the improvements that keep temperatures comfortable while they enjoy exercise classes and social gatherings in the community facilities.”
“Duke Energy is committed to helping customers better manage their energy usage,” said Melissa Seixas, Duke Energy Florida state president. “Through Duke Energy conservation measures, we could provide Springwood Villas with more than $2,100 in incentives and reduce their annual energy use by 16,400 KWH—a savings of $1,640 for the community.”
