Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) is recognizing the Okeechobee County State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP) program as a PSC Helping Hand for their outreach assistance. With SHIP’s help, the PSC has shared information and raised awareness on utility-related scam protections, energy and water conservation, and the Lifeline Assistance telephone/broadband discount program.
“We appreciate partner agencies or organizations that work with the Commission to reach Floridians who can benefit from our information,” said PSC Chairman Andrew Fay. “Our PSC Helping Hand recognition is a way to highlight the Okeechobee County SHIP for their partnership and assistance in achieving our outreach efforts.”
Through PSC Helping Hand partnerships, the Commission shares information with consumers to help them avoid scams and stretch their resources to better meet monthly bills. The PSC is also able to provide our “Where to Find Help in Florida” publication, a resource on many social service programs, as well as our children’s activity book, “Get Wise and Conserve!”
“We’re excited to be recognized as a PSC Helping Hand,” said Affordable Housing Coordinator Jessica Schooley. “With partnerships like the PSC, we are able to assist qualified homebuyers in Okeechobee County with resources to assist them with their family and household needs.”
