Florida National Guard Response to Hurricane Idalia

Posted on September 1, 2023

At the direction of Governor DeSantis, the Florida National Guard (FLNG) remains activated for Hurricane Idalia response and recovery operations.

The FLNG has been conducting search and rescue and route clearance operations and is operating commodity distribution sites in Taylor, Suwannee, Lafayette, Jefferson Hamilton, Dixie and Madison Counties. Our Guardsmen have cleared over 850 miles of roadways.

We also have units supporting the State Logistics Response Center (SLRC) and County Emergency Operation Centers (EOC).

Mobilized units are postured to support humanitarian assistance, route clearance, search and rescue, traffic control, aviation, and security missions throughout the area.

The Florida National Guard is well-equipped, with assets including high-wheeled vehicles, helicopters, boats, and more.

Please visit our social media sites and the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service at https://www.dvidshub.net/unit/FLNGPAO for imagery as we respond to this storm.
