POWERBALL® jackpot skyrockets to a staggering $1.73 billion

Posted on October 11, 2023

Jackpot is Now Second-Largest in POWERBALL History!

The POWERBALL® jackpot is now an astounding $1.73 billion after Monday night’s drawing. Tonight’s estimated jackpot is the second-largest POWERBALL jackpot, behind the world record of $2.04 billion jackpot, which was won in California on November 7, 2022.

In the Monday night drawing, one lucky ticket holder in Florida matched all five balls and opted for the $1 Power Play® add-on feature, doubling their payout to $2 million. The ticket was sold at Publix, located at 9359 Sheridan Street, in Hollywood. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning POWERBALL ticket.

To date, the jackpot has rolled 35 times since the July 22, 2023, drawing, contributing an impressive $81.33 million to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).

Jackpot winners have the option of receiving their winnings in 30 annual installments or as a one-time, lump-sum cash option of approximately $756.6 million. In addition to the jackpot, players have the chance to win non-jackpot prizes ranging from $4 to $2 million by matching other number combinations.

POWERBALL jackpots start at $20 million and roll until the jackpot is won. Players win by matching the five white ball numbers (1-69) and the Power Ball number (1-26). The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately 1-in-24.87.

Players can purchase tickets at any of the more than 13,500 Lottery retailers across the state for the chance to become Florida’s newest multi-millionaire. Players are reminded to sign the back of their tickets at the time of purchase and keep them in a safe place. The integrity of all games is of utmost importance to the Florida Lottery. As always, the Florida Lottery reminds all players to play responsibly and remember that it only takes one ticket to win.
