Dedicated Habitat partner provides support for communities that were hit the hardest.
As the Taylor County, FL community recovers from the devastating effects of Hurricane Idalia, State Farm contributed $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Florida to direct to Habitat for Humanity of Taylor County. This generous donation will aid the Taylor County affiliate in repairing up to 15 storm-damaged homes over the next year.
State Farm has long supported disaster recovery across the Habitat for Humanity network, providing grants to affiliates who are in early recovery, including to some that were affected by Hurricane Ian in 2022. Habitat for Humanity of Florida is grateful to continue this partnership and use these resources to help a rural community recover after a major hurricane.
“State Farm has been an invaluable partner in recovery efforts,” said Lance Rettig, Disaster Resilience and Resource Development Officer for Habitat for Humanity of Florida. “There are State Farm agents and their team members that call Taylor County home, so they understand what residents are going through and they are committed to helping rebuild affordable housing in the community. Though the road ahead is long, Taylor County will come back stronger than before. When people unite with compassion, as we have seen, there is no challenge that can’t be overcome.”
“Helping people recover from the unexpected is part of State Farm’s mission” said Apsara Sorensen, State Farm Corporate Responsibility Director. “State Farm is proud to support Habitat for Humanity of Florida efforts to help our communities recover from the hurricane. This grant is part of $250,000 in disaster grants provided by State Farm to several organizations for immediate critical needs, including food pantry supplies and helping communities rebuild.”
