FDLE busts three for armed robbery

Posted on October 26, 2023

Diligent work by FDLE led to the apprehension of the trio

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), working jointly with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, arrested three suspects for robbery with a weapon.

Leon Joseph Salters II, 30, Ja-Rawle Caesar Nation, 31, and Javon Desean Salters, 29, all of Pompano Beach were arrested on Friday, October 20.

On October 16, a tip was submitted regarding Salters II, Caesar Nation, and Salters attempting to commit an armed smash-and-grab robbery to a local business. The tip advised that the robbery would take place in the early morning hours of October 20, allowing agents and deputies to survey the area.

Through investigative and forensic techniques, the suspects were positively identified and arrested prior to the forthcoming armed robbery. The suspects were found with a sledgehammer, a stolen vehicle, and a firearm.

FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass said, “Smash-and-grab robberies may be commonplace in San Francisco and LA, but here in Florida, we won’t stand for it.  Here, we back our law enforcement community investing in our officers giving them the resources they need to investigate these crimes and arrest dangerous felons so they can’t hurt our citizens and businesses. Let this serve as a warning to anyone thinking about committing these brazen crimes in Florida.  Our agents and analysts are the best in the country and we will find you and build strong cases against you.  In Florida, you will face justice.”

FDLE Special Agent in Charge John Vecchio said, “The men and women of FDLE and law enforcement worked around the clock to identify and bring these suspects to justice. The arrests in this case could not have happened without the collaborative effort and the strong partnerships that we build on a daily basis.”

The investigation is still active and ongoing, and further charges may be filed. If you have any information relating to this case or the suspects, please contact FDLE Orlando at (407) 245-0888.

The suspects were booked into the Orange County Jail.  The case will be prosecuted by the Office of the State Attorney, Ninth Judicial Circuit.
