Following today’s vote on HR 31C, calling for a de-escalation and cease-fire in Israel and Palestine, bill sponsor Representative Angie Nixon (D-Jacksonville) offered the following statement:
“Both the Palestinian and Israeli people deserve to live their lives and raise their families in peace. I support a federal strategy that severely reduces the current loss of innocent civilian life that will lead to long-term solutions for peace in the region. And to my colleagues unable to remain composed today: name-calling and false accusations in the chamber won’t save lives. It also won’t stop me from fighting for all people. Shame on you. Redirect that fury away from combatting the humanization of people suffering into something more constructive. ”
