Florida’s Insurance Consumer Advocate (ICA) Tasha Carter today issued the following statement in support of Governor Ron DeSantis’ 2024-2025 Focus on Florida’s Future budget.
ICA Tasha Carter said, “The cost and availability of insurance are significant concerns for Floridians. Governor Ron DeSantis’ 2024-2025 Focus on Florida’s Future budget addresses both by providing insurance tax relief and increasing funding for the My Safe Florida Home Program.
The $409 million in homeowners insurance and $22 million in flood insurance savings will go directly back into the pockets of Floridians who are experiencing increased expenses in most areas of their lives. Providing $107 million in funding for the My Safe Florida Home Program provides more opportunities for Floridians to harden their home and protect their largest asset. It is a win-win-win – homes are stronger, the risk of damage during a disaster is greatly reduced and insurance premiums will decrease.
I appreciate and applaud Governor DeSantis for his continued commitment of prioritizing insurance consumers.”
