As part of its innovative commitment to customers and business, Veterans Ford recently initiated an energy audit to lower costs. To recognize its energy-saving initiative, the Tampa-based company is receiving the Florida Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Triple E Award for Energy Efficiency Efforts.
After taking advantage of Tampa Electric’s (TECO) free Energy Audit and Lighting Rebate Programs, Veterans Ford upgraded its lighting fixtures to LED technology. The upgrade reduced the facility’s energy usage by 212,000 kWh annually, helping Veterans Ford achieve a remarkable 19 percent reduction in energy usage. This provides an annual cost savings of $20,352 and reduces greenhouse emissions.
“Veterans Ford is committed to sustainability whether in service or sales, especially as we shift our focus towards electric vehicles,” said Lorenzo Pena, general manager, Veterans Ford. “Lower energy usage helps everyone due to cleaner air, but especially our customers who benefit from our energy conservation efforts when they come to purchase a vehicle or have their vehicle serviced.”
“Tampa Electric’s energy conservation programs benefit our business customers through energy savings and program rebates. It’s so rewarding when customers get to see program results,” said Karen Sparkman, vice president of Customer Experience for Tampa Electric. “Veterans Ford received $10,135 in rebates for its lighting project, and it reduced energy demand by a significant 49 kW.”
