Representative Kristen Arrington’s (D-Kissimmee) legislation (HB 59) to require homeowners’ associations to provide copies of association rules and covenants to every member and to every new member thereafter by a specified date passed the Civil Justice Subcommittee unanimously. This bill would require HOAs to be more transparent with their residents regarding rules and regulations.
“I am so pleased that this legislation is headed to the Commerce Committee, its third and final committee stop. I have been working on this legislation for a while and it is crucial for my community to bring this home. Residents deserve to stay up to date with the rules of their HOAs and should not be subject to surprise changes or unknown rules within their own communities,” said Representative Arrington.
The Senate’s Community Affairs committee recently also unanimously passed the Senate companion, SB 50, by Senator Linda Stewart (D-Orlando).
