PSC Approves New Water and Wastewater Rates for Pluris Wedgefield, LLC

Posted on April 2, 2024

The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) today approved new water and wastewater rates for Pluris Wedgefield, LLC (Pluris) in Orange County.

In October 2023, Pluris petitioned the PSC to increase its water and wastewater rates. Pluris provides water and wastewater service to approximately 1,740 water customers and 1,710 wastewater customers. The utility’s last comprehensive base rate proceeding was in 2012.

Today’s approved rates are based on a revenue requirement of $2.3 million for water and $1.2 million for wastewater. New monthly water rates include a base facility charge of $35.25 and a tiered gallonage charge based on usage. New monthly wastewater residential rates include a base facility charge of $28.68 and a gallonage charge of $7.53 up to 6,000 gallons. The approved rates will not be implemented until after Pluris customers receive a PSC-approved customer notice.

In December 2023, the Commission approved interim rates, subject to refund, for Pluris water and wastewater customers. Based on the new authorized return on equity (8.75 percent), the Commission today approved a 5 percent interim rate refund for water and a 7.72 percent interim rate refund for wastewater, with interest.

The Commission also approved new miscellaneous service charges, customer deposits, temporary hydrant meter deposits, service availability charges and a refund for private fire protection customers.

Commission staff held a customer meeting in Pluris’ service territory in January to hear from customers on the utility’s rate request and its quality of service.
