Taking pride in offering a sustainable living experience, the Villa Marina condominium community in Aventura received the Florida Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Triple E Award for energy efficiency efforts that benefit its clientele and the complex.
Villa Marina’s 300 residents now enjoy better visibility and security after the community installed 1,300 energy-efficient LED lights throughout its interior common areas through Florida Power & Light Company’s (FPL) Business Lighting Program. Over time, Villa Marina expects its investment and reduced energy consumption to achieve substantial cost savings.
“Our goal is to create a vibrant community where our residents can enjoy scenic views while living life to its fullest,” said Evelyn Vargas, Property Manager, LCAM. “With FPL’s assistance, we were able to offset the lighting’s initial installation cost with more than $12,000 in program rebates; a win-win for us and for our residents.”
“At FPL, we want to support our customers in finding ways to be more energy efficient and keep their bills as low as possible, and using our Business Lighting Program is one of the great ways we can do this,” said Dawn Nichols, FPL”s Vice President of Customer Service. “These energy-efficient upgrades are projected to reduce Villa Marina’s demand during summer peak hours by more than 150 kilowatts and save tens of thousands of kilowatt-hours of energy usage annually.”
Covering the state’s five major geographic areas, the PSC presents its Triple E Award to a local business that has accomplished superior energy efficiency. Look for past Triple E Award recipients on the PSC’s website, www.FloridaPSC.com, under Consumer Portal.
