As the countdown to the General Election on November 5, 2024, begins, the Florida National Organization for Women (NOW) is proud to announce its full endorsement of Debbie Mucarsel-Powellfor the Florida Congressional Senate seat. In stark contrast, Rick Scott’s tenure as Florida’s Governor and as current US Senator has been marked by anti-democratic policies that threaten the very fabric of our democracy. Among his egregious actions is suppressing voter rights, as his administration conducted a voter controversial voter roll purge aimed at removing alleged non-citizens from the voting rolls violating federal law and disproportionately affecting minority voters. Among other things, He opposed restoring the voting rights to Returning Citizens and voted to block the Biden Administration’s Freedom to Vote Act.His role in the largest healthcare fraud in history has raised serious concerns
about his ability to represent the people of Florida. Scott cosponsored bills to impose restrictions on abortion. He reversed his support of gun control measures after the Parkland massacre which raises questions about his commitment to public safety & the rights of communities affected by gun violence.
