Rep. Rick Roth endorses Matt Spritz for State House

the Palm Beach County Delegation Next Year

Matt Spritz announced today that Republican State Representative Rick Roth has endorsed his campaign for the State House. Notably, Roth is one of only two non-term limited Republican State Representatives from Palm Beach County currently serving in the Florida House.

“I proudly endorse Matt Spritz for State Representative,” said Roth. “I’ve had the pleasure of working with Matt in Tallahassee for some time, and I’ve seen firsthand his dedication to our community and his tireless work ethic. The people of House District 89 will be well served having Matt represent them in Tallahassee, and I’m looking forward to working closely with him as part of our legislative delegation for the benefit of all Palm Beach County next year.”

“I’m honored to have the support of Representative Roth,” said Spritz. “He’s a local small business owner who understands our community, and why it’s so important to promote policies that shrink government, grow our economy, and create jobs. Roth joins a growing number of current and former state and local elected officials who have endorsed Spritz, including former U.S. Senator George LeMieux, former State Senator Ellyn Bogdanoff, State Representatives Byron Donalds, Randy Fine, Jason Fischer, Joe Gruters, Tom Leek, Bobby Payne, and Bob Rommel, former State Representative Alex Miller, former Town of Palm Beach Councilman Bill Diamond, and former Town of Manalapan Mayor David Cheifetz.

Representative Rick Roth is a native of Palm Beach County, a husband, father and grandfather, a 3rd generation farmer, and a 32-year small business owner. He is currently serving his first term in the Florida House, as the Representative from District 85, which includes large portions of northern Palm Beach County.

Born and raised in South Florida, Matt Spritz graduated Phi Beta Kappa with high honors from Emory University and from New York University School of Law in New York. He practiced corporate and business law in New York and later in South Florida before committing himself to public service in the Florida House.

House District 89 covers coastal portions of Palm Beach County spanning from Singer Island to Boca Raton, which has the largest concentration of voters. Thirty-six percent of registered voters in the district are Republicans, while Democrats make up 33 percent, and voters with minor or no party affiliation, 31 percent.

Annisa Karim launches November 2018 campaign for Florida’s Congressional District 25

Raised in south Florida, Annisa Karim is a member of the first graduating class of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. She received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Florida in Wildlife Ecology and Conservation. Karim works as a manager within the Lee County Department of Parks & Recreation, managing 35 staff and overseeing the operations and land management of 25 parks and preserves.

She chose a career in conservation to ensure our magnificent wildlife and their habitats are preserved for future generations. Furthermore, she understands that in Florida the environment is the economy. She has served extensively in the Democratic Party in Collier County; as the Chairwoman of the Party, President of the Democratic Club, and Vice President of the Democratic Women’s Club. She also served as the Vice President of the Muslim Democratic Caucus of Florida. Karim first ran for office in 2016 for the Collier County Commission.

Karim said at a fund-raising event this week, “If elected politicians do not represent their constituents—do not heed their voices—it is a betrayal of their office. We need to restore decency and civil discourse into our national political debate. In Congress, we need to work across partisan lines to implement the will of the people.”

Karim made these remarks as she launched her campaign. A progressive Democrat, she will not accept corporate or special interest money. Her campaign is first and foremost a grass root operation driven by donations from grass root donors and non-profit sources. She added, “Please go to my website to donate, to volunteer, to help in any way you can. This campaign is by and for the people.”

She is running on a platform where her primary issue is that of climate change, ecological concerns, conservation and acknowledgment of scientific data. Other platform issues include sensible gun reform, universal health care, ridding elections of corporate money and Super PACS, fair elections with no gerrymandering, and immigration reform with a path to citizenship for DACA.

A longtime Democratic official and colleague who has worked extensively with Karim and asked to remain anonymous, said of her candidacy, “Annisa is the perfect candidate to run for this position, in this District, in this election. Her smarts, work ethic, and commitment to the environment for all who live here will serve her well in Congress.”

In her speech, Karim shared further that her message is a steadfast commitment to being a voice for the people. She believes in government by and for the people. Once elected she will serve her constituents as their voice, and as their conduit to the corridors of power in Washington D.C. Her unshakeable belief that representatives are elected to serve the people who elect them was founded when in 2008 she volunteered in a campaign for Maria Jimenez for the Florida State House. Karim was inspired by Jimenez’s work ethic and political stand that “real people serve in this position” and that “politics is everybody’s issue.”

Karim is eager to meet as many of her constituents as possible and during this campaign will be a constant presence on the east and west coasts.

Leslie Waters Endorses Blacklidge for Florida House

says Blacklidge is the right choice for District 69

The Ray Blacklidge Campaign today announced the endorsement of Mayor Leslie Waters of Seminole. Blacklidge, a Republican, is running to represent District 69 in the Florida House of Representatives.

“I’ve known Ray Blacklidge for more than 20 years. He will be a strong leader in Tallahassee, and he has my full support,” said Waters. “I know what it takes to be a successful legislator, and Ray’s business background and commitment to public service make him more than qualified. District 69 residents would be well represented by him in Tallahassee.”

Waters has served as mayor of Seminole since 2013. Prior to that, she was elected to the Seminole City Council in 2009, serving as Vice Mayor in 2010. From 1998 to 2006, she represented District 51 in the Florida House of Representatives, where she was Speaker Pro Tem from 2006 to 2008.

“Mayor Waters is a distinguished leader in our area at both the state and local levels, and I’m honored to have her endorsement,” said Blacklidge. “I look forward to following her example of public service and working together to strengthen Seminole and our entire community.”

Blacklidge has an extensive background as an entrepreneur with a record of protecting consumers and fighting fraud. He currently works as an insurance executive and attorney in the management of a Florida-based insurance company.

House District 69 covers the south Pinellas beach communities from Redington Shores to Fort DeSoto, as well as portions of St. Petersburg, Gulfport, Kenneth City, and Pinellas Park. With 36 percent of the district’s voter registration, Republicans maintain a slight lead over the Democrats’ 35 percent. Independents and minor parties make up 29 percent of the district.

Matt Spritz announced today that former Town of Palm Beach Councilman Bill Diamond has endorsed his campaign for State Representative.

Bill Diamond is the Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Realty. He also served as a Councilman for the Town of Palm Beach from 2009–2015. Prior to that, he served as Commissioner for the New York City Department of Citywide Services under Mayor Rudy Giuliani, from 1994–2001.

Catherine Price Enters Race for Florida Senate District 26

Lake Wales activist, Catherine Price, today proudly announces her candidacy for Florida Senate District 26.

“Tallahassee seems to be broken and our state is in desperate need of better political leadership. We need legislators who are educated, experienced, and committed to working for the people, rather than puppeting for powerful special interests,” Price declared.

Catherine price is a native Floridian from Lake Wales where she and her husband, David Price, have raised their son Stefan. Price is running for elected office for the first time because she is concerned that Tallahassee legislators have abandoned the principles of good democracy.

“I cannot sit this one out in good conscious,” Price stated. “We are at a critical juncture in Florida and in the world where we can choose to work together to solve the issues we face, or we can continue down the path of increased chaos and infighting.”

Catherine Price has spent the bulk of her professional life helping people get access to affordable healthcare. In 2004, she successfully organized a half-cent ballot initiative which currently generates $36M annually for indigent health care in Polk County. Price also served as Chairwoman of the Polk County Healthcare Alliance from 2007 to 2010.

“Too many hardworking people in Florida don’t have healthcare because they either don’t have access or it’s just too expensive. I’ve spent a lot of time advocating for affordable healthcare in Tallahassee and DC, and I can tell you that too many of these politicians just don’t get it.”

Catherine also has a passion for the environment. She plans to make increasing utilization of solar energy in Florida a priority and her campaign theme is, “For the future – Let’s put the sun back in the Sunshine State.”

Republicans have edged out Democrats in each of the last four general elections in this district. But in 2018, a year where Democrats are hopeful that national momentum will help them win in unlikely districts, Senate District 26 is absolutely in play.
