CRC Meeting Schedule Week of September 25-29

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) noticed the following meeting schedule for the week of September 25-29, 2017. CRC meetings are open to the public and will be livestreamed by The Florida Channel on www.TheFloridaChannel.org. Members of the public wishing to address CRC committees will be provided an opportunity to speak at the direction of the respective committee chair. Visit flcrc.gov/Committees for additional information on CRC committees.

Once every 20 years, Florida’s Constitution provides for the creation of a 37-member revision commission for the purpose of reviewing Florida’s Constitution and proposing changes for voter consideration. The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) meets for approximately one year, traveling the State of Florida, identifying issues, performing research and possibly recommending changes to the Constitution. How to Submit a Proposed Constitutional Amendment Through FLCRC.GOV

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) released a new infographic showing the simple steps Floridians can take to submit a proposed constitutional amendment through flcrc.gov.
CRC Chairman Carlos Beruff, said, “The recommended September 22nd deadline to submit a proposed constitutional amendment to the CRC is a month away and we encourage all interested Floridians to submit their proposals as soon as possible. The submission tool on flcrc.gov offers a simple, streamlined process to create and share proposed constitutional amendments with the CRC. Just follow the steps in our new infographic and make sure your voice is heard during this historic process!”
 

The CRC is considering Friday, September 22 as the filing deadline for public proposals. The recommended deadline is subject to approval by a vote of the full commission. 150 Floridians Attend CRC Public Hearing in Tallahassee

The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) held a public hearing in Tallahassee on Wednesday, April 12 at Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU) as part of its “Floridians Speak, We Listen” statewide tour. Approximately 150 Floridians attended the hearing and more than 50 requested to speak before the CRC. All Floridians who attended the hearing and wanted to speak were given an opportunity to be heard by the CRC.

Chairman Beruff Announces Updates to CRC Public Hearing Schedule in South Florida

Public hearings will be held in larger spaces on FIU
and FAU campuses to accommodate high participation

Chairman Carlos Beruff today announced updates to the confirmed public hearing schedule in South Florida to maximize public participation. The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) will be at the Florida International University (FIU) Student Academic Success Center in Miami on Thursday, April 6 beginning at 5:00 p.m. and the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) Acura Club (located in the FAU Stadium) in Boca Raton on Friday, April 7 beginning at 9:00 a.m. 

Chairman Carlos Beruff, said, “We were pleased to see 400 Floridians attend our first public hearing in Orlando. Given the public interest in speaking before the CRC, we have found new spaces on the FIU and FAU campuses that can hold even more participants. I encourage all interested Floridians in the greater Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County areas to come make their voices heard on April 6 at FIU in Miami and on April 7 at FAU in Boca Raton.” 

Updates to the South Florida public hearing schedule are outlined below. Additional public hearings will be announced as soon as possible. All upcoming public hearings will be live-streamed by The Florida Channel. ICYMI: 400 Floridians Attend Constitution Revision Commission Public Hearing in Orlando

The Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) held its first public hearing on March 29 in Orlando at the University of Central Florida (UCF) as part of its, “Floridians Speak, We Listen” statewide tour. Approximately 400 Floridians attended the hearing, and more than 95 individual Floridians spoke before the Commission to share their ideas. The hearing began at 5:00 PM and extended past the noticed end time through approximately 9:00 PM. All Floridians who attended the public hearing and wanted to speak were given an opportunity to be heard by the Commission.

Chairman Beruff Announces Statewide “Floridians Speak, We Listen” Tour

The 2017-2018 Constitution Revision Commission is hitting the
road to learn about the issues important to Florida families

Chairman Carlos Beruff today announced the first four scheduled stops on the statewide “Floridians Speak, We Listen” tour being hosted by the 2017-2018 Florida Constitution Revision Commission (CRC).  The Commission will be at the University of Central Florida (UCF) in Orange County on Wednesday, March 29 from 5-8 p.m.; Florida International University (FIU) in Miami-Dade County on Thursday, April 6 from 5-8 p.m.; Florida Atlantic University (FAU) in Palm Beach County on Friday, April 7 from 9 a.m.-noon; and the University of West Florida (UWF) in Escambia County on Wednesday, April 12 from 4-7 p.m. (central time).
Chairman Carlos Beruff, said, “When Governor Rick Scott appointed me as Chair of this Commission, my first order of business was to ensure Floridians are actively involved in this historic and important process. I am proud to announce our ‘Floridians Speak, We Listen’ tour, where we will get input from Florida families on the issues that matter to them. This historic process gives Florida voters an opportunity to change the framework of our government and I encourage all interested Floridians to attend a public hearing and make their voices heard.”
