CHARLOTTE COUNTY
I-75 from Tuckers Grade to the Weight Station (mile marker 160) in Punta Gorda: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday, February 19 through Friday, February 24 while crews pave the roadway, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
Southbound I-75 Weigh Station (mile marker 160) in Punta Gorda: Construction project: Work is underway to rebuild the southbound weigh station on the west side of the roadway. Once work is completed; crews will begin to rebuild the northbound weigh station on the east side of the roadway. Motorists should not expect lane closures on I-75. Estimated completion is summer 2017. The contractor is R.M. Williams Construction, Inc.
I-75 from south of Harborview Road (mile marker 167) to Sumter Boulevard (mile marker 182): Construction project: This project widens the road from four to six lanes and adds a 12-foot travel lane and 10-foot shoulder to the inside of existing northbound and southbound I-75.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should also expect periodic travel lane shifts through the duration of construction.
- Motorists should expect the inside northbound lane on the bridge over the Peace River closed through the duration of the project.
- Toledo Blade Boulevard will be reduced to one lane during nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, February 20 and will continue for three weeks.
- I-75 northbound off ramp to Sumter Boulevard will be closed during nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22 and Thursday, February 23.
- I-75 northbound off ramp to Toledo Blade Boulevard will be closed during nighttime/overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, February 20 and Tuesday, February 21.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated completion is end of 2017. The contractor is Astaldi Construction Corporation.
US 41 from Cross Street to Cochran Boulevard: Construction project: Crews improve 5.8 miles of US 41. The project includes signal upgrades at various intersections, milling and resurfacing, miscellaneous shoulder widening, bike lanes and improved pedestrian access at multiple intersections. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on US 41 during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Friday, weather permitting. Intermittent lane closures may occur on side streets.
- At US 41/Parmely Street, crews will add a new through/left-turn lane on Parmely Street to accommodate more vehicles turning left onto US 41/Tamiami Trail from Parmely Street.
- At US 41/Olean Boulevard, crews will add a new northbound right-turn lane on Olean Boulevard to accommodate more vehicles turning right onto US 41/Tamiami Trail from Olean Boulevard.
- At US 41/Harborview Road crews will add a new westbound through lane on Harborview Road to accommodate more vehicles heading west toward Edgewater Drive.
Motorists should be aware of heavy machinery and large trucks entering and exiting the roadway while crews install construction signage and silt fence. Please use caution and plan extra travel time while driving in this area. Project completion is expected fall 2017.
The Contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
US 41 from Enterprise Drive to Sarasota/Charlotte County Line: Construction project: Crews are working to expand US 41 to six lanes from Enterprise Drive to the Sarasota/Charlotte County line. This 3.6-mile project also includes making roadway drainage improvements, installing water and sewer lines, adding bike lanes and sidewalk and replacing signals at Enterprise Drive, Toledo Blade Boulevard and S. Cranberry/Cornelius Boulevards. Crews are installing new utilities, building new roadway and drainage. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the project.
- Collingswood Boulevard is closed on the north side and south side of US 41.
- Collingswood Boulevard median at US 41 is closed.
- Chamberlain Boulevard median is closed.
- Cornelius Boulevard is closed on the south side of US 41.
- Chamberlain Boulevard is closed on the north side and south side of US 41.
- Warrington Boulevard is closed on the north side of US 41.
- Flamingo Boulevard is closed on the south side of US 41.
- The speed limit is reduced to 40 miles per hour.
Drivers should be aware of construction vehicles and equipment entering and exiting the roadway. The contractor expects to complete work in spring 2017. The contractor is Guymann Construction Inc.
SR 776/El Jobean Road over the Myakka River: Construction project: Crews perform maintenance on the SR 776/McCall Road Bridge over the Myakka River. Marine traffic should expect construction barges and activity in the area. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours Monday through Friday, weather permitting.
- Motorists should expect shoulder closures during daytime hours and should use extreme caution as construction vehicles enter and exit the roadway.
Boaters should use caution. Pedestrians should use extreme caution and stay behind the construction safety fence and out of the work zone. Estimated project completion is end of 2016. The contractor is Inland Construction & Equipment, Inc.
COLLIER COUNTY
I-75/Alligator Alley Rest Area (mile marker 63): Construction project: Work is underway to build a new rest area and water treatment plant on the north side of the roadway. Estimated project completion is spring 2018. The design/build contractor is West Construction, Inc.
I-75 from Broward County Line (mile marker 50) to east of CR 951/Collier Boulevard (mile marker 101): Construction project: This safety project adds approximately 78 miles (39 miles in each direction) of guardrail along I-75/Alligator Alley. Crews will begin a moving pavement operation at CR 951 (exit #101) and work easterly to the Broward County line. Crews will then work from the Broward County line westerly to just east of CR 951. Guardrail installation will follow behind the pavement operation. Crews will work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the duration of the project.
- Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures along the outside northbound lane from mile marker 95 to mile marker 100.
- Motorists should expect the outside eastbound lane closed from the toll plaza to mile marker 98.
Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. The contractor is the de Moya Group, Inc. Estimated completion is summer 2017.
I-75 from the toll plaza (mile marker 100) to the Faka Union Canal (mile marker 91): Construction project: This safety project adds approximately 18 miles (9 miles in each direction) of 10-foot fencing along I-75/Alligator Alley. Crews will work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. The contractor is Gomez & Son Fence Corporation. Estimated completion is summer 2017.
US 41 at 107th Avenue North/Creekside Boulevard: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect Creekside Boulevard closed at US 41 through the end of February for crews to install underground utilities, weather permitting. Motorists should expect the northbound right turn lane and southbound left turn lane to Creekside Boulevard closed during this time. Motorists should also expect the northbound left turn lane to 107th Avenue North closed through the end of January, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays and use caution as crews work in the roadway.
SR 84/Davis Boulevard from Heritage Trail to Santa Barbara Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes resurfacing the roadway, adding curb and gutter, and installing light poles. Crews will also add a pedestrian crosswalk and upgrade the signal at County Barn Road. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during daytime hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project. Drivers should use caution while driving in this area. Estimated project completion is summer 2017. The contractor is Preferred Materials, Inc.
DESOTO COUNTY
US 17 from CR 760A to Heard Street and within the City of Arcadia: Construction project: Crews are expanding US 17 to four lanes. Work is underway for two new travel lanes to the east and west of existing US 17 travel lanes includes utility activities, installation of drainage, and new roadway construction.
- Northbound and southbound US 17 traffic have switched to the new portion of US 17 from south of CR-760A/McCaskill Street to north of CR 760/Welles Avenue.
- Traffic remains on the existing lanes from north of CR 760/Welles Avenue to south of Fletcher Street.
- Northbound and Southbound US 17 travel lanes have shifted to the new eastern roadway from south of Fletcher Street to north of Hibiscus Drive.
- In Arcadia – Northbound and Southbound US 17 travel lanes have shifted to the new western roadway from Hibiscus Drive to Palmetto Street.
- SW Palm Drive is closed; use SW Hibiscus Drive. Lowe Street is closed; use Heard Street.
Motorists should access businesses from the old roadway and continue to observe the posted speed limits. Work vehicles are entering and exiting the roadway during the week. Please use caution and plan additional travel time. Expected project completion is in the summer of 2017. The contractor is Prince Contracting.
GLADES COUNTY
SR 78 from US 27 to Old Lake Port Road: Maintenance project: Crews will be landscaping near the roadway during daytime hours, Monday through Thursday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 78 from US 27 to Buckhead Ridge: Maintenance project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during daytime hours, Monday through Thursday, while crews repair washouts, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 29 from SR 78 to US 27: Maintenance project: Crews will be landscaping near the roadway during daytime hours, Monday through Thursday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
HARDEE COUNTY
US 17 from the Hardee/Desoto County Line to Sweetwater Road (CR 634): Construction Project: Crews are widening US 17 from two lanes to four lanes, adding a grassed median and building new two-lane bridges over Charlie Creek and Charlie Creek Overflow. The contractor will also install new roadside drainage swales and storm water ponds to manage water running off the roadway. The contractor is Watson Civil Construction. Temporary asphalt will be placed at the north end of the project on Saturday, February 25, 2017. Temporary striping will take place the beginning of the following week in preparation for a slight traffic shift to the newly paved section towards the end of the week. Lighted message boards and flaggers will be directing motorists around the work zone. Watch for crews and equipment working close to the road. Please observe posted speed limits and drive with caution in the construction zone. Estimated completion is summer 2018.
SR 636 at SR 64: Construction project: Crews are building a new section of road to realign the SR 64 connection to SR 636. SR 64 is closed between the intersections of SR 636 (7 mile point) and Ed Wells Road to allow for these intersection improvements. During construction, the contractor will detour traffic 24 hours a day using SR 636 and US 17. Watch for lighted message boards and signs directing traffic around the work zone. Detour routes are in place for motorists to travel around the work zone. The contractor is Lane Construction. Expected completion is summer 2017.
HENDRY COUNTY
Flaghole Road from Woodland Boulevard to US 27: Construction Project: Crews will mill and resurface the roadway, improve drainage and install, roadway safety treatments. Watch for crews and equipment working close to the road. Drivers should expect daytime lane closures. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone in a single lane. Please observe posted speed limits and drive with caution in the construction zone.
- Motorists should expect Flaghole Road closed to through traffic from Taft Boulevard to Surrency Road. This closure is expected to continue through Monday, March 6.
Estimated Project completion is summer 2017. The contractor is Community Asphalt Corporation.
US 27 from SR 80 to the City of Clewiston: Maintenance project: Crews will be landscaping near the roadway during daytime hours, Monday through Thursday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.
SR 80 from Dalton Lane to Indian Hills Drive: Maintenance permit project: Crews will be relocating utilities near the roadway during daytime hours, Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway.

HIGHLANDS COUNTY
SR 25 (US 27) Southbound between Ryant Blvd. and Alan Jay Kia: Permit Project: Crews will be building a new driveway/connection. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the site. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
SR17 from Claridage Road to San Juan Avenue: Maintenance Project: Crews are cleaning and reshaping ditches. Work will take place Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and lane closures are expected. Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through this area.
Rucks Dairy Road Bridge: Construction Project: Crews will be building a new two lane bridge to replace the current one lane bridge. Construction of the new bridge will be next to the current bridge. Additional improvements will include resurfacing a portion of the road approaching the new bridge, drainage enhancements, new guardrails and updated signage. The Contractor is Leware Construction Company of Florida. Motorists should use caution when traveling through the work zone. Expected project completion is spring 2018.
SR 25 (US 27) at Vicki Drive: Construction Project: Crews are adding a right turn lane, widening, and milling and resurfacing. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway. Expected completion February 2017.
US 27 From South of Tauber Street to South Highlands Avenue: Construction Project: Crews are extending and widening the northbound right turn lane on to Highlands Avenue in front of Highlands Regional Medical Center. Motorists should expect the turn lane to be closed during the nighttime hours of 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. Variable message boards will notify motorists of the closure. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
US 27 at Sebring Parkway: Construction Project: Crews are extending the northbound right turn lane and bicycle keyhole. Sod installation and cleanup is underway. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway. Expected completion February 2017.
SR 17 (Lakeview Drive) between US 27 and Kenilworth Boulevard: Construction Project: Crews are reconstructing the road and repairing damaged sidewalk on Lakeview Drive (SR 17) between US 27 and Kenilworth Boulevard. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
LEE COUNTY
I-75 at E. Terry Street (mile marker 117): Construction project: Crews are painting the outside barrier walls of the E. Terry Street Bridge over I-75. Motorists should expect lane closures on I-75 during the nighttime/overnight hours between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated project completion is late February 2017. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.
I-75 Airport Direct Connect (exit #128): Construction project: Crews are installing irrigation and landscaping on the southbound loop ramp to/from the Southwest Florida International Airport. The majority of the work will be done during daytime hours. Drivers should use caution traveling in the work zone. Estimated completion is summer 2017. The contractor is Superior Landscaping & Lawn Service, Inc.
US 41 from San Carlos Boulevard to Emerson Square Boulevard: Maintenance project: Crews will be striping the roadway during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work in the roadway.
US 41 from Dana Drive to Pine Drive: Maintenance project: Crews will be installing sidewalk on the west side of the roadway during daytime hours Monday through Friday, weather permitting. Motorists should use caution as crews work near the roadway
US 41 from Playa Del Sol Boulevard to Business 41: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday while crews construct turn lanes, weather permitting. US 41 from just south of Pelican Colony Boulevard to San Carlos Boulevard: Construction project: This project installs light poles on both sides of the roadway. Work occurs during daytime and nighttime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent outside lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. through the duration of the project, weather permitting. Motorists and pedestrians should use caution traveling in the work zone. Estimated project completion is spring 2018. The contractor is Valiant Power South.
US 41 Caloosahatchee Bridge: Construction project: Crews continue to perform maintenance on the US 41 bridge over the Caloosahatchee River. SR 78/Pine Island Road from Santa Barbara Boulevard to Chiquita Boulevard: Construction project: This project includes widening for bike lanes and milling and resurfacing the outside eastbound/westbound turn lanes. The project will also improve pedestrian access at Hancock Bridge Parkway. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Drivers should use caution while driving in this area. Estimated project completion is summer 2017. The contractor is Wright Construction Group, Inc.
State Roadways (SR 31, SR 45, SR 78, SR 80, SR 82, SR 739, SR 865 and SR 867): Maintenance contract project: Crews are sweeping curb and gutter on state roadways and bridges. Motorists should expect lane closures during the nighttime/overnight hours from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weather permitting. Motorists should expect slow moving traffic and possible delays.
Leeland Heights Boulevard from Georgia Road to Richmond Avenue: Construction project: This project includes sidewalk installation and drainage improvements to the north side of the roadway. Work occurs during daytime hours. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Local area residents will have access at all times. Intermittent lane closures may occur on side streets. Motorists and pedestrians should follow detour signs and use caution while driving in this area. Estimated project completion is spring of 2017. The contractor is Wright Construction Group, Inc.
MANATEE COUNTY
I-75 (SR 93) / University Parkway Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI)(Sarasota/Bradenton): Construction Project: Temporary intermittent single and double lane closures are in place at night/overnight on northbound and southbound I-75 Sunday, February 26 through Thursday, March 2 between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m. Double lane closures begin at 11 p.m. Watch for lane shifts and temporary single and double lane closures on the I-75 on and off-ramps between 8 p.m. and 7 a.m.
Temporary intermittent single and double lane closures are in place at night/overnight on eastbound and westbound University Parkway from Cooper Creek Blvd. to Market Street Sunday, February 26 through Thursday, March 2 between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m. Double lane closures begin at 10 p.m. Watch for shifts in traffic.
The contractor is paving the approaches to Errie Creek Bridge, installing water main and storm drain throughout the project, excavating earth material, reconstructing the median on University Parkway, constructing the new I-75 northbound bridge, installing and painting the panels for the noise wall, and constructing MSE walls. Watch for trucks entering and leaving the highway. Watch for changes in the speed limit. Speeding fines double when workers are present.
Improvements being made as part of this project consist of constructing a diverging diamond interchange, adding an auxiliary lane on northbound and southbound I-75, constructing new bridges on I-75 over University Parkway, widening of University Parkway, widening of I-75 bridges over Errie Creek and Foley Creek, realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps at I-75/University Parkway, addition of ponds, drainage improvements, new lighting and signalization, construction of a noise wall on the west side of I-75, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. US 92 (SR 600) from Reynolds Road to Schalamar Creek Entrance: Construction project: Traffic on U.S. 92 from Reynolds Road to Schalamar Creek Drive reduces to one lane in each direction and shifts entirely onto the existing eastbound lanes while crews work on the westbound lanes. Driveway and side street access will be limited, so drivers need to be prepared to make U-Turns at the beginning and end of the project. The temporary lanes will not accommodate wide loads, so wide load haulers should seek alternate routes. This traffic pattern will remain in place through April 2017.

SR 758/Bee Ridge Road/Osprey Avenue from Siesta Drive to Dunn Drive: Construction project: The traffic currently shifts to the north from US 41/Tamiami Trail to west of Murdock Avenue. The south sidewalk remains closed behind the barrier wall & is part of the construction zone at this time. Pedestrians must use the north sidewalk from US 41/Tamiami Trail to Beneva Road.
Traffic is shifted to the south from Murdock Avenue east to McIntosh Road as crews install storm drainage in selected areas on the north side of the roadway. The north sidewalk is closed in these locations and pedestrians will be directed to the new sidewalk on the south side of Bee Ridge Road.
Additionally, please stay alert for intermittent lane closures during nighttime operations as well as slow moving construction vehicles throughout the project. Motorists should plan additional travel time as the construction operation progresses across driveways and side streets.
Side Street & Driveway Advisories: Crews are continuing the removal, repair and installation of storms drains along Bee Ridge on the south side of the road as well as water main work for the city of Sarasota that may require side street &/or driveway closures. Crews are moving along with preparation of the roadbed for paving on the south side of the roadway and will close East Avenue, Freedom Avenue, Liberty Avenue, Dearborn Avenue and Groveland Avenue for a few days, one at a time, as they progress. Please watch for driveway closures through this area. Alternate driveway access is provided where needed for businesses in these areas. Crews are also working on the north side of Bee Ridge to install storm drainage and will close Asbury Place and Riviera Drive this week. Motorists should pay special attention throughout this project and follow the detour signage in place to access streets to and from Bee Ridge Road.
The project consists of significant drainage improvements, removing old asphalt and resurfacing the roadway, reconstructing sidewalk, and installing new signalization in some areas. The project also includes construction of eleven (11) pedestrian refuge islands on Bee Ridge Road between Dunn Drive and US 41. Expected completion of the $17 million project is late summer/early fall of 2017.
SR 758/Siesta Drive at San Remo Terrace: Construction project: This project is to perform drainage improvements at the Siesta Drive at San Remo Terrace intersection; including, new storm water drainage inlets and pipes, and drainage swale improvements. Drivers should anticipate nighttime lane closures between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. This week, crews will complete the installation of drainage piping underneath and adjacent to Siesta Drive and begin sidewalk work. Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Drivers should use caution while traveling in the work zone. Estimated completion is spring 2017. Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC is the contractor.
SR 758/Bee Ridge Road east of Lalani Boulevard: Maintenance permit project: Crews are replacing a concrete pole. Expect nighttime/overnight westbound outside lane closures from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning Tuesday, March 7 through Thursday, March 9. Use caution and expect possible delays.
SR 72 at Proctor Road: Maintenance permits project: Crews are constructing a turn lane and driveway. Expect daytime intermittent lane closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Sunday, March 26. Use caution and expect possible delays.
SR 72 Clark Road/Stickney Point from Honore Avenue to US 41: Maintenance contracts project: Crews are making storm water pipe repairs through mid-March 2017. Expect intermittent nighttime/overnight east and westbound outside lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
