Jacksonville man begins the new year $500,000 richer

The Florida Lottery announces that Wayne Gaulding, 65, of Jacksonville, claimed a top prize in the $500,000 HOLIDAY MILLIONS Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He purchased his winning ticket from Welcome Food Store, located at 11531 San Jose Boulevard, Suite 15 in Jacksonville.

The $5 Scratch-Off game, $500,000 HOLIDAY MILLIONS, launched in October, and features more than 2.9 million prizes, including eight top prizes of $500,000! The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-4.06.

Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 65 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $734 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2015-16.

First HOLIDAY MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE grand prize winner comes forward

The Florida Lottery announces that one of the seven Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE™ grand prize winners claimed their $1 million prize at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee.
Patrick Foster, 59, of Leesburg, claimed his $1 million grand prize from the Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE drawing held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Foster purchased his winning Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE ticket at Ocala Stopping Center, located at 7401 West Highway 318 in Reddick. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus for selling a $1 million-winning ticket.
Along with the seven $1 million prizes, 527 other prizes ranging from $500 to $50,000 were awarded in the Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE Grand Prize drawing held on January 3. Additionally, this year’s Raffle offered five weekly drawings, in which a total of ten $10,000 prizes, 250 $1,000 prizes, and 1,000 $500 prizes were won. The Holiday MILLIONAIRE RAFFLE game generated more than $1.7 million in revenue for education.

Coconut Creek man wins $2 million POWERBALL prize

The Florida Lottery announces that Hely Fernandez, 62, of Coconut Creek, claimed a $2 million prize from the POWERBALL® drawing held on December 28, 2016. The winning ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, but did not match the Powerball.
Fernandez purchased his winning ticket at Flamingo Chevron, located at 4351 South Flamingo Road in Davie. The retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus commission for selling the winning POWERBALL ticket. Total ticket sales for the December 28, 2016, POWERBALL drawing generated more than $939,000 for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.
The next POWERBALL drawing will be held Saturday, January 7, at 10:59 p.m. ET with an estimated $94 million jackpot. National POWERBALL drawings are broadcast live, in high-definition, from the Florida Lottery’s state of the art draw studio in Tallahassee. Florida Lottery game drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state. Drawings are also available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website.Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.

Jacksonville man celebrates the new year after claiming a $2 million MEGA MILLIONS prize

The Florida Lottery announces that Edward Rannin, 64, of Jacksonville, claimed a $2 million MEGA MILLIONS® prize from the drawing held on Friday, December 30, 2016. The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, but did not match the Mega Ball.
Rannin purchased his ticket from Winn Dixie, located at 12777 Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the $2 million MEGA MILLIONS ticket. Total ticket sales for this series of MEGA MILLIONS rollovers generated more than $5.5 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
The next MEGA MILLIONS drawing will be held Friday, January 6, at 11:00 p.m. ET with an estimated $117 million jackpot. MEGA MILLIONS drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state. Drawings are also available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.

Florida Lottery reaches $6.2 billion in sales during calendar year 2016

The Florida Lottery has reached a new record of more than $6.2 billion in sales during calendar year 2016; surpassing the previous year’s sales by more than $411 million. The Lottery’s 2016 contributions to the state’s Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) are expected to reach $1.6 billion, a 7% increase over last year.
“Ending 2016 with this never before reached sales record is a tremendous accomplishment for the Florida Lottery,” said Secretary Tom Delacenserie. “Not only do our players and retailers benefit, but more importantly, these record-breaking sales help provide more opportunities for Florida students to ensure they receive the very best education possible.”
This year’s record sales of more than $6.2 billion resulted in the Florida Lottery transferring an average of $135 million toward education every month during 2016.
The Florida Lottery reinvests 98 percent of its revenue back into the state’s economy. With $1.6 billion generated for education, more than $3.9 billion paid to prize winners, and $342 million in retailer bonuses and commissions paid to Florida businesses, the contributions made by the Lottery this calendar year will go a long way in moving the state forward.
