PLAYER EXCITEMENT GROWS AS AMERICA’S DUELING JACKPOTS RISE

~Multi-state Jackpots offer a Combined $492 Million ~

TALLAHASSEE – Player excitement grows as both multi-state games, MEGA MILLIONS® and POWERBALL®, jackpots rise to a combined total of $492 million! The MEGA MILLIONS jackpot rolled to $223 million after Friday night’s draw, and the POWERBALL jackpot rolled to $269 million after Saturday night’s draw.

With large jackpots like these, players are encouraged to sign the back of their tickets at the time of purchase and keep them in a safe place. Players should always check their tickets carefully because even if they don’t win the jackpot, they can still win cash prizes of up to $5 million with MEGA MILLIONS and of up to $2 million with POWERBALL.

POWERBALL jackpots start at $40 million and roll until the jackpot is won. Players win by matching the five white ball numbers (1-69) and the red POWERBALL (1-26). There are eight other ways to win non-jackpot prizes ranging from $4 to $1 million or up to $2 million if the ticket includes Power Play. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately one-in-24.87. 

MEGA MILLIONS jackpots also start at $40 million and roll until the jackpot is won. Players win by matching the five white ball numbers (1-70) and the golden Mega Ball number (1-25). There are eight other ways to win non-jackpot prizes ranging from $2 to $1 million or up to $5 million if the ticket includes Megaplier. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are approximately one-in-24.

New MEGA MILLIONS enhancements feature increased starting jackpots and more millionaires

Enhancements begin on October 28, 2017

The MEGA MILLIONS® Draw game is undergoing a redesign that will bring more value to itsplayers with larger starting jackpots and more $1 million winners! The new enhancements include a starting jackpot that will increase from $15 million to $40 million, and will grow fasteroverall; better odds to win the second-tier prize of $1 million; and larger lower-tier prizes. The ticket price will also change, increasing from $1 to $2 per play; Megaplier® will remain at $1 more per play.
The MEGA MILLIONS number matrix will also change; players will now select five numbers from 1 to 70, and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. Overall odds of winning a prize will be one-in-24. The new MEGA MILLIONS enhancements will go into effect on Saturday, October 28, 2017; the first drawing to include the enhancements will be Tuesday, October 31, 2017.
“Since joining MEGA MILLIONS four years ago, this multi-state game has become a player favorite; generating millions in contributions to education,” said Lottery Secretary Jim Poppell. “We look forward to these new enhancements creating even more enthusiasm among our players and retailers, with an additional $9 million in education contributions expected during the first year.”

Florida Lottery warns citizens of MEGA MILLIONS® scam

The Florida Lottery is warning citizens of a lottery scam involving MEGA MILLIONS®in which scammers are sending emails to the public indicating they may have won $1 million, in an effort to obtain personal and financial information. Do not respond to these emails; if you have not purchased a MEGA MILLIONS ticket, you cannot win a prize.
The email features the MEGA MILLIONS logo as part of the letterhead, and states that the recipient was among a group of randomly selected people to participate in an ongoing MEGA MILLIONS drawing. Individuals are asked to provide general information about themselves in order to participate. The email goes on to warn the recipient not to share this information with other people in order to avoid impersonation and a double claim.
Florida Lottery players will never be required to transfer funds to secure their winnings for MEGA MILLIONS or any other Florida Lottery game. Multi-state Jackpots offer $738 Million Combined

Excitement is buzzing among Lottery players across the nation as jackpots for both multi-state games, MEGA MILLIONS® and POWERBALL®, have continued to rise to a combined total of $738 million. The MEGA MILLIONS jackpot rolled to $382 million after Tuesday night’s draw, and the POWERBALL jackpot rolled to $356 million after Wednesday night’s draw.
Even if players don’t win the jackpot, they can still claim cash prizes of up to $5 million with MEGA MILLIONS and $2 million with POWERBALL. Jacksonville man celebrates the new year after claiming a $2 million MEGA MILLIONS prize

The Florida Lottery announces that Edward Rannin, 64, of Jacksonville, claimed a $2 million MEGA MILLIONS® prize from the drawing held on Friday, December 30, 2016. The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers, but did not match the Mega Ball.
Rannin purchased his ticket from Winn Dixie, located at 12777 Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville. The retailer received a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the $2 million MEGA MILLIONS ticket. Total ticket sales for this series of MEGA MILLIONS rollovers generated more than $5.5 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF).
The next MEGA MILLIONS drawing will be held Friday, January 6, at 11:00 p.m. ET with an estimated $117 million jackpot. MEGA MILLIONS drawings are broadcast on 17 carrier stations throughout the state. Drawings are also available for viewing on the Florida Lottery website. Winning numbers are available on the Lottery website, at retailers statewide and by phone at (850) 921-PLAY.
