The Florida Lottery announces that Sandy Pedigo, 61, of Punta Gorda, claimed a $1 million prize in the $10,000,000 FORTUNE Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. She chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $792,000.00.
Pedigo purchased her winning ticket from 7-Eleven, located at 5800 Duncan Road in Punta Gorda. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.
The $25 Scratch-Off game, $10,000,000 FORTUNE, launched in February 2016, and features more than $623 million in total cash prizes, including 46 prizes of $1 million and four prizes of $10 million. The game’s overall odds of winning are one-in-2.88.
Scratch-Off games are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, comprising approximately 65 percent of ticket sales and generating more than $734 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in fiscal year 2015-16.

RoadWatch Advisory: SB I-75 Weigh Station Facility Reopens for Service in Punta Gorda
Motorists should expect the reconstructed southbound weigh station on I-75 at mile marker 160 to reopen for service on Tuesday, April 11. Crews have completed work on the reconstruction of the facility.
Also, on Tuesday, April 11, crews will begin demolition on the northbound I-75 weigh station. Crews will begin to demolish and rebuild the northbound weigh station on the east side of the roadway. Motorists should expect the I-75 northbound weigh station facility to be closed to the public.
Motorists should not expect lane closures on I-75. Estimated completion is end of summer 2017. The contractor is R.M. Williams Construction, Inc.
PSC Customer Service Hearings for Punta Gorda and Lake Placid
The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) invites customers of Utilities Inc. of Florida (Utilities, Inc.) to participate in customer service hearings in Punta Gorda and Lake Placid on the utility’s petition for a water and wastewater rate increase. The hearings will allow customers to provide public comment on Utilities Inc.’s rate request. Customer input will be taken into consideration when the Commission considers this request.
