Activists Are Participating in 38 Events in 23 Counties Across the State
With less than 100 days until the August 28th primary, Florida Democrats are coming together this Memorial Day weekend for an “I Will Vote” weekend of action, with U.S. Senator Bill Nelson and FDP hosting joint “Nelson’s Neighbors” events across the state.
The weekend of action marks a kick-off to a summer of activism, where Democrats are committed to registering thousands of Floridians to vote-by-mail, knocking on doors in all 67 counties, registering thousands of new voters and communicating in new ways about our candidates.
“The momentum we are seeing in our Democratic clubs and progressive groups across the state has been outstanding,” said FDP Chair Terrie Rizzo, “There is tremendous enthusiasm about our candidates, and it shows by the engagement we are seeing in this weekend of action, and beyond.”
Senator Nelson’s grassroots team of supporters – Nelson’s Neighbors – are teaming up with Florida Democrats to engage and register voters. Sen. Nelson is scheduled to join volunteers in Orange County, as Grace Nelson will be in Duval County with volunteers making phone calls and knocking on doors.
“In counties across the state, Floridians are coming together to knock on doors, make phone calls and register voters to help re-elect Bill Nelson,” Chair Rizzo said. “Sen. Nelson has been fighting day in and day out to protect the people of Florida and we will do everything we can to elect Democrats up and down the ticket.”
The Florida Democratic Party’s grassroots networks continues to grow, hitting a new milestone this week as they were the top state in the nation to have volunteers sign-up for training with the Association of State Democratic Committees.
