Drivers traveling along State Road (S.R.) 35/Baseline Road will encounter a new traffic pattern from Southeast 96th Place Road to south of S.R. 464/Southeast Maricamp Road. The new pattern is anticipated to take effect late this week, but could occur during the following week due to weather or other unexpected conditions.
The traffic switch will move southbound traffic to the outside (right) lane of the newly constructed southbound lanes while the inside southbound lane, closest to the median, will remain closed to traffic. Northbound traffic will remain on the northbound lanes, but only use the inside lane.
The traffic pattern allows workers to safely continue paving and sodding activities. The work is part of a Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project to widen Baseline Road from Southeast 96th Place Road to south of S.R. 464/Southeast Maricamp Road. The $20.4 million project is 90 percent complete, and on track to finish this fall.
Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct motorists. Construction updates are available on FDOT’s Central Florida website, CFLRroads.com.
