Gov. Scott Statement on the Passing of Miami-Dade Police Officer Jermaine Brown

Posted on December 13, 2018

Governor Rick Scott made the following statement today regarding an all-terrain vehicle crash that took the life of Miami-Dade Police Officer Jermaine Brown. Governor Scott spoke with Miami-Dade Police Department Director Juan Perez this morning, and will honor the memory and sacrifice of Officer Jermaine Brown by ordering the lowering of flags when appropriate. The details on the lowering of flags will be announced in the coming days.

Governor Scott said, “My wife, Ann, and I are saddened to learn of the loss of Officer Jermaine Brown. Our sincerest condolences are with Officer Brown’s family and his brothers and sisters at the Miami-Dade Police Department. Our law enforcement officers leave their loved ones every day and put their lives at risk to protect our communities. Today, I’m asking Florida families to join me in praying for the family of Officer Brown during this difficult time and for the safety of all our law enforcement.”
