SB 1244 passed today with unanimous bipartisan support on the House Floor during Session. SB 1244 removes the statute of limitations for an offense of using a child in a sexual performance or an offense of promoting a sexual performance by a child, if the offender is 18 years of age or older at the time he or she commits the offense.
“Right now, all a sex offender in Florida has to do is run out the clock to get away with their crime. We owe it to our constituents to protect everyone in the state of Florida. HB 913/SB 1244 aims to help ensure that becomes a reality,” said Representative Tracie Davis (D- Jacksonville).
