Governor Scott Appoints Renatha Francis to the Miami-Dade County Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Renatha Francis to the Miami-Dade County Court. 
Francis, 39, of Miami, currently practices with Shutts & Bowen, LLP. Previously, she served in multiple positions with the First District Court Appeal, including as an attorney to Judge Scott Makar, staff attorney, and law clerk to Judge Peter Webster. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies and her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law. Francis fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Jason E. Dimitris to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.
 

Gov. Scott Appoints Three to Continuing Care Advisory Council

Governor Rick Scott today announced three appointments to the Continuing Care Advisory Council.
Dudley Geyer, 71, of Saint Johns, was the former area manager of Hewlett Packard Company. He succeeds Walter Hood and is appointed for a term beginning August 14, 2017, and ending September 30, 2018.
Raymond Neff, 75, of Sarasota, is the President of Neff and Associates Home Office Services. He succeeds Charles Paulk and is appointed for a term beginning August 14, 2017, and ending September 30, 2018.
Sue Bunevich, 60, of Tampa, is the Principal of Clifton, Larson, Allen, LLP. She succeeds Marshall Gunn III and is appointed for a term beginning August 14, 2017, and ending September 30, 2019.
 

Governor Scott Appoints Joseph J. Mansfield to the Miami-Dade County Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Joseph J. Mansfield to the Miami-Dade County Court. 
Mansfield, 52, of Miami, has served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit since 2001. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron and law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. Mansfield fills the vacancy created by the elevation of Judge Victoria del Pino to the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Court.

Gov. Rick Scott Appoints Three to the Board of Governors,
Citizens Property Insurance Corporation

Governor Rick Scott today announced one appointment and two reappointments to the Board of Governors, Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.
Chris Gardner, of Winter Park, is the chief executive officer of Hub International Florida. Previously, Gardner has served as a member on the Board of Governors for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation as an appointee of the Speaker of the House. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida. Gardner fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 31, 2019.
Jim Holton, of Indian Shores, is the president and owner of Holton Companies. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his law degree from Boston University. Holton is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 31, 2020.
Bette Brown, of Tavernier, is the area executive of CenterState Bank. She received her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University. Brown is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending March 23, 2020.

Gov. Scott Appoints Six to Florida Faith-Based
and Community-Based Advisory Council

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of four and the appointment of two to the Florida Faith-Based and Community-Based Advisory Council.
Dr. Jerry Haag, 50, of Lakeland, is the president and chief executive officer of Florida Baptist Children’s Homes, Orphan’s Heart, and The Porch Light. He is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.
Richard Albertson, 55, of Tallahassee, is the founding president of Live the Life Ministries. He is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.
Dr. Gretchen Kerr, 65, of The Villages, is the executive director of the care center at Northland Church. She is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.
Patricia Smith, of Tallahassee, is the community relations director for the Department of Children and Families. She is reappointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.
J. Scott George, 54, of Maitland, is development director of Orlando Hope and the founder of United Against Poverty. He succeeds Thomas Lukasik and is appointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.
Dr. Rosby Glover, 61, of Lake Worth, is the executive director of Mount Bethel Human Services. He succeeds Rabbi Sholom Ciment and is appointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending July 18, 2020.

Governor Rick Scott Appoints Mike Griffin to the Tampa Port Authority

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Mike Griffin to the Tampa Port Authority. Due to recent reports of excessive spending at Port Tampa Bay, Governor Scott is reminding all appointees to Florida’s governmental boards, commissions and advisory councils of their responsibility to be accountable to the taxpayers of Florida and ensure the organizations they oversee operate with fiscal prudence.
Governor Scott said, “Recently, I was concerned to see media reports detailing wasteful spending by the executives at Port Tampa Bay. The actions detailed in these reports should serve as a reminder of the importance of the oversight every appointee is charged with providing. I look forward to the Tampa Port Authority Governing Board reviewing policies to prevent wasteful spending by employees.
“I am confident that Mike Griffin will do a great job on the Tampa Port Authority and will work with the entire board to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars. Mike has committed to conduct a full analysis of prior and future expenditures by the Port and we know that the Board is focused on reviewing policies that concentrate on its core mission of serving as one of the state’s major economic and trade drivers.”
Griffin, 36, of Tampa, is the senior managing director of Savills Studley Occupier Services. Griffin is also the current chair of the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Florida. Griffin fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning August 1, 2017, and ending November 15, 2019.

Governor Scott Appoints Judge Charles Sniffen
to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Judge Charles Sniffen to the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court.
Sniffen, 44, of Parrish, is currently a county judge for Manatee County. He previously worked in private practice, and as an Assistant State Attorney for the Twelfth Judicial Circuit. He received his bachelor’s degree from Emory University and law degree from Florida State University. Sniffen fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Janette Dunnigan.

Governor Scott Appoints James Jefferson Goodman, Jr.,
to the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of James Jefferson Goodman, Jr., to the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit Court. 
Goodman, 38, of Bonifay, is currently a solo practitioner, with prior experience in both the public and private sectors. He previously served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourteenth Judicial Circuit, and as a litigation associate for Balch & Bingham, LLP. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and law degree from Florida State University. Goodman fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Hentz McClellan.

Governor Rick Scott Appoints LaTasha Green-Cobb to Florida Housing Finance Corporation

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of LaTasha Green-Cobb to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
LaTasha Green-Cobb, of Jacksonville, is the chief executive officer of Empowered Action Corporation. She succeeds John Hawthorne and is appointed for a term beginning July 28, 2017, and ending November 13, 2020.
This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

Governor Rick Scott Appoints Jim Murphy to the Governing
Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Jim Murphy to the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Murphy, 57, of Lakeland, is the division president of Florida Sealing Products, Inc. He attended Ohio State University and is appointed to fill a vacant seat for a term beginning July 28, 2017, and ending March 1, 2021.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Gov. Scott Appoints Two to Clay County Development Authority

Governor Rick Scott today announced two reappointments to the Clay County Development Authority.
Russell Buck, 56, of Middleburg, is the regional vice president of Vystar Credit Union. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland. Buck is reappointed for a term beginning July 17, 2017, and ending July 1, 2021.
Gregory Clary, 65, of Middleburg, is the president of Clary & Associates. He is reappointed for a term beginning July 17, 2017, and ending July 1, 2021.
 

Gov. Scott Appoints Gary Pyott to Regulatory
Council of Community Association Managers

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Gary Pyott to the Regulatory Council of Community Association Managers.
Gary Pyott, 58, of Aventura, is the president of Association 1st, LLC. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning June 17, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.
This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.
 

Gov. Scott Appoints Alan Landman to District
Board of Trustees, Eastern Florida State College

Governor Rick Scott announced today the reappointment of Alan Landman to the District Board of Trustees of Eastern Florida State College.
Landman, 54, of Indialantic, is an attorney at Alan Landman, P.A. He received his bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida and is reappointed for a term beginning July 17, 2017, and ending on May 31, 2021.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Northwest Florida Water Management District

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointments of Jerry Pate and Ted Everett to the Governing Board of the Northwest Florida Water Management District.
Pate, 63, of Pensacola, is the owner and chief executive officer of Jerry Pate Turf & Irrigation, Inc. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. Pate is reappointed for a term beginning July 17, 2017, and ending March 1, 2021.
Everett, 57, of Chipley, is the executive director for the Washington County Chamber of Commerce. He received his bachelor’s degree from Augusta State University. Everett is reappointed for a term beginning July 17, 2017 and ending March 1, 2021.

Governor Scott Appoints Michael Vallencourt to Clay County Utility Authority

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of Michael Vallencourt to the Clay County Utility Authority.
Vallencourt, 58, of Orange Park, is the chairman of the board for Vallencourt Construction Co. Inc. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama. Vallencourt is reappointed for a term beginning July 14, 2017, and ending September 30, 2019.

Governor Scott Appoints One to Florida Housing Finance Corporation

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Creston Leifried to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation.
Leifried, 36, of Chuluota, is the vice president of Coastal Reconstruction Group, Inc. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning July 14, 2017, and ending November 13, 2018.
This appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

Governor Scott Appoints Ben Gibson to State Board of Education

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Ben Gibson to the State Board of Education.
Gibson, 33, of Tallahassee, is an attorney at Benjamin J. Gibson, P.A., and previously served as the Deputy General Counsel in the Executive Office of the Governor. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Florida State University. Gibson succeeds John Padget and is appointed for a term beginning July 14, 2017, and ending December 31, 2020.

District Board of Trustees, St. Petersburg College

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of Katherine “Katie” Cole to the District Board of Trustees, St. Petersburg College.
Cole, 42, of Belleair, is an attorney with Hill Ward Henderson, PA. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee and her law degree from Stetson University. Cole is reappointed for a term beginning July 14, 2017, and ending May 31, 2021.

Governor Scott Appoints Gregory G. Groger to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott announced the appointment of Gregory G. Groger to the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court. 
Groger, 38, of Land O’Lakes, has served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Sixth Judicial Circuit since 2003. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law. Groger fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Walter L. Schafer, Jr.
 

Governor Scott Appoints Judge Eric Roberson to the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Judge Eric Roberson to the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court. 
Roberson, 37, of Jacksonville, is currently a county judge for Duval County. He previously worked in private practice, and as an Assistant State Attorney for the Fourth Judicial Circuit. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Florida and law degree from the University of Florida. Roberson fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Mark Hulsey III.

to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Thomas James Coleman to the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit Court. 
Coleman, 45, of Fort Lauderdale, has served as an Assistant State Attorney for the Seventeenth Judicial Circuit since 1998. He received his bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Albany, and his law degree from Saint Thomas University School of Law. Coleman fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Marc H. Gold.
 

Governor Scott Appoints Darren D. Farfante and Christine
Ann Marlewski to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointments of Darren D. Farfante and Christine Ann Marlewski to the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit Court. 
Farfante, 46, of Tampa, practices with Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, and previously served as a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice Tax Division. He received his bachelor’s, master of laws, master of accountancy, and law degree from the University of Florida. Farfante fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Brenda “Tracy” Sheehan.
Marlewski, 40, of Tampa, is an equity shareholder with GrayRobinson P.A. She received her bachelor’s and law degrees from the University of Florida. Marlewski fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge William P. Levens.

Board of Southwest Florida Water Management District

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of John Henslick to the Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Henslick, 66, of Myakka City, is the owner and president of Henslick & Associates, LLC. He received his bachelor’s degree from Jacksonville University and his master’s degree from the University of Florida. Henslick is reappointed for a term beginning June 5, 2017, and ending March 1, 2021.
The appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

Board of Suwannee River Water Management District

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of Virginia Johns to the Governing Board of the Suwannee River Water Management District.
Johns, 62, of Gainesville, is the president of John C Hipp Construction Equipment Company. She received her associate’s degree from Santa Fe College and her interior design degree from Bauder College. Johns is reappointed for a term beginning June 5, 2017, and ending March 1, 2021.

Board of South Florida Water Management District

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointments of Jaime Weisinger and Brandon Tucker to the Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District.
Weisinger, 46, of Fort Myers, is the director of community and government relations for Lipman Family Farms. He received his bachelor’s degree from Boston University. Weisinger succeeds Mitchel Hutchcraft and is appointed for a term beginning June 5, 2017, and ending March 1, 2021.
Tucker, 42, of Palm City, is the president of The Tucker Group, LLC. He received his bachelor’s degree from Florida State University. Tucker succeeds Kevin Powers and is appointed for a term beginning June 5, 2017 and ending March 1, 2021.
The appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
 

Governor Scott Appoints Clifford Newsome to the Calhoun County School Board

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Clifford Newsome to the Calhoun County School Board.
Newsome, 66, of Altha, is the owner and president of North Florida Construction Inc., and North Florida Sod Inc. He is also a member of the Altha Farmers Co-op, the Calhoun County Hazardous Mitigation Committee and the Community Traffic Safety Team.  He is appointed to a vacant seat previously held by the late Timothy Glenn Smith, for a term beginning June 5, 2017, and ending November 19, 2018.

Gov. Scott Appoints Five to Construction Industry Licensing Board

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of three and the reappointment of two to the Construction Industry Licensing Board.
Michael Strickland, 43, of Lakeland, is the president of Strickland Construction, Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 30, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.
Frank Cawthon, 54, of Windermere, is the president of Florida Home Construction of Central Florida, Inc. and FHC Development. He succeeds William Sheehan and is appointed for a term beginning May 30, 2017, and ending October 31, 2018.
Keith Lawson, II, 46, of Tallahassee, is the president of Keith Lawson Company, Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 30, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.
Robert Maphis, 47, of Windermere, is the vice president of The Collage Companies. He fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning May 30, 2017, and ending October 31, 2017.
Edgar Laney, 71, of Jacksonville, is the president of The Laney Company General Contractor, Corp. He succeeds Robert Moody and is appointed for a term beginning May 30, 2017, and ending October 31, 2019.

Governor Rick Scott today announced 11 reappointments to various boards and commissions throughout the state following the Florida Senate’s failure to consider them for confirmation by adjournment sine die of the 2017 regular legislative session:
Florida Prepaid College Board
Ambassador John Rood, 62, of Jacksonville, is the chairman of the Vestcor Companies, Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending June 30, 2017.
Governing Board of the Northwest Florida Water Management District
Samuel “Bo” Spring, 41, of Port Saint Joe, is the managing member of Big Fish Construction LLC. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Jonathan Costello, 36, of Tallahassee, is a governmental consultant with Rutledge Ecenia P.A. and an adjunct professor at Florida State University. Costello is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Governing Board of the South Florida Water Management District
Daniel O’Keefe, 49, of Windermere, is an attorney with Shutts and Bowan LLP. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Federico Fernandez, 41, of Coral Gables, is an attorney with DiFalco and Fernandez LLLP. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District
Michelle Williamson, 54, of Dover, is a manager at G & F Farms. She is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Bryan Beswick, 50, of Arcadia, is a grove manager with Premier Citrus Management LLC. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Mark C. Taylor, 58, of Brooksville, is the president of TTG Properties Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
Governing Board of the St. Johns River Water Management District
Douglas Bournique, 65, of Indian River, is the executive vice president of the Indian River Citrus League. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending March 1, 2020.
State Retirement Commission
Thomas Napier, 82, of Tallahassee, was a former special projects manager for the Clerk of Circuit Court of Leon County. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending December 31, 2020.
Board of Orthotists and Prosthetists
Paul Weott, 56, of Bradenton, is the owner of Orthotic and Prosthetic Centers, Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.

Gov. Scott Appoints Two to Children’s Services Council of St. Lucie County

Governor Rick Scott today announced two appointments to the Children’s Services Council of Saint Lucie County.
Richard Del Toro, Jr, 40, of Port St. Lucie, currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Police at the City of Port St. Lucie Police Department. He received his bachelor’s degree from Barry University and his master’s degree from Nova Southeastern University. Del Toro fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending November 13, 2017.
Carmine Izzo, Jr, 46, of Port St. Lucie, currently serves as a Lieutenant at the City of Port St. Lucie Police Department. He received his bachelor’s degree from Warner University and his master’s degree from Florida Atlantic University. Izzo succeeds Candice Loupe and is appointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending November 13, 2019.
 

Gov. Scott Appoints Randolph Cash to Collier County Housing Authority

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Randolph Cash to the Collier County Housing Authority.
Cash, 62, of Naples, is the president of Flamingo Air Management, Inc. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Miami. Cash fills a vacant seat and is appointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending October 17, 2018.
 

Gov. Scott Appoints Two to Board of Professional Engineers

Governor Rick Scott today announced the reappointment of Babu Varghese and the appointment of Pankaj Shah to the Board of Professional Engineers.
Varghese, 58, of Davie, is the president of Abtech Engineering, Inc. He is reappointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.
Shah, 72, of Clearwater, is the former chief executive officer of Cumbey and Fair, Inc. He succeeds John Pepper and is appointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending October 31, 2020.
These appointments are subject to Senate confirmation.

to Board of Control for Southern Regional Education

Governor Rick Scott today announced the appointment of Representative Rene Plasencia to the Board of Control for Southern Regional Education.
Rep. Plasencia, 44, of Orlando, is a district relations manager with Florida Virtual School and previously served as a classroom instructor for 17 years. He currently represents district 49 in the Florida House of Representatives. Plasencia succeeds Nancy Detert and is appointed for a term beginning May 25, 2017, and ending June 30, 2018.
