SunRail Open House Coming to Kissimmee

This Saturday’s Kissimmee Train Tour is a Nighttime Event

SunRail train tours wrap up this weekend with one final open house before new service starts the end of July. It’s happening Saturday, June 30 at the downtown Kissimmee SunRail/Amtrak Station at 320 Pleasant Street. SunRail Emergency Simulation This Thursday

Passersby Might See Activity Near Donegan Avenue, Kissimmee

SunRail is participating in an emergency exercise this Thursday, June 21, along the railroad tracks north of Donegan Avenue, from approximately 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The event will simulate an emergency, where the train has come to a stop, and passengers are transferred to a bus, which takes them to the Tupperware Station.

This bus bridge exercise is meant to benefit SunRail crews, LYNX bus service providers, as well as emergency responders in the southern expansion area, where new service is beginning July 30. In the event of an emergency where SunRail trains could not run, buses will have to shuttle passengers between stations. About 12 to 15 volunteers are participating.

Passersby are urged to stay back for safety reasons.

Tupperware Station Community Train Tour Event this Saturday

Mark your calendars for this Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., as the SunRail train tour pulls in to the Tupperware Station located at 3205 Orange Ave., Kissimmee. It’s expected to be a big draw. The last open house at the Poinciana Station in May drew an estimated 2,500 people. New service is scheduled to open later this summer, and the train tours provide prospective riders with a taste of what SunRail offers, including information about its 17-mile southern expansion. Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission (CFCRC) Meeting May 31, 2018

The Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission (CFCRC), the SunRail advisory board comprised of elected leaders from the five local funding partners, will meet Thursday, May 31, 2018 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Metroplan Orlando offices, located at 250 S. Orange Avenue, Suite 200, Orlando, Florida 32801.

SunRail’s Southern Expansion is Connecting Communities

Poinciana Community Train Tour Event this Saturday

Poinciana is the place to be this weekend for those who want to know more about SunRail’s 17-mile southern expansion and new service scheduled to open late summer. On Saturday, May 19, SunRail is hosting a Community Train Tour at its Poinciana Station located just east of S. Poinciana Boulevard, north of Old Tampa Highway. This is the first of four community train tours, held at each new station along the southern expansion. This Saturday’s tour runs from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Connectivity information, to and from the station, is also available as LYNX representatives are attending as well.

This is a chance to learn how SunRail can make the commute fast, easy and affordable, as well as less stressful. SunRail is moving people throughout the region by providing work and leisure opportunities; connecting communities. The new expansion adds four new stations; Meadow Woods in Orange County and Tupperware, Kissimmee and Poinciana in Osceola County, with Poinciana Station as the southern terminus.

Future train tour dates:
Tupperware: 3205 Orange Ave., Kissimmee • Saturday, June 16: 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Meadow Woods: 120 Fairway Woods Blvd., Orlando • Saturday, June 23: 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Kissimmee: 320 Pleasant Street., Kissimmee • Saturday, June 30: 5 p.m. until 9 p.m.
