Posted on April 17, 2019

Governor Ron DeSantis today delivered remarks at a luncheon commemorating the 58th anniversary of the Bay of Pigs, honoring the veterans and condemning the continued dictatorships in Cuba and Venezuela. The Governor was joined by First Lady Casey DeSantis and Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez.

“When you look back at the people of brigade 2506, that fought in the Bay of Pigs, they were fighting the good fight against tyranny, communism and oppression,” said Governor DeSantis. “We will not forget the atrocities of the Castro regime and we will not be silent as the Maduro dictatorship continues to subvert the Venezuelan people to starvation and suffering.”

“Today, we honor the lost souls of the Bay of Pigs invasion,” said Lieutenant Governor Nuñez. “This day will always be remembered for the courage and bravery these patriots exemplified for freedom in Cuba, and we remain hopeful that true democracy will soon triumph in the island.”
