U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) today urged Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee leaders to hold a hearing on legislation he filed last fall in the wake of Hurricane Irma that would require the federal government to set up fuel reserves on Florida’s east and west coasts that could be used in the event of another major storm hitting the state. Attorney General Pam Bondi filed a court action against a summer camp company and its owners for suddenly canceling camp and leaving some parents without refunds. The Second Judicial Circuit Court granted the Attorney General’s motion for temporary injunction prohibiting defendants Camp Indian Springs, LLC, Camp Warrior, LLC, Costa Vathis, and Derek Hart from taking further deposits. Today, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jeff Greene issued the following statement in response to news reports of “gross misconduct” in Commissioner Adam Putnam’s Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services:
“The Florida Department of Agriculture has been bought and sold by proud NRA sellout Commissioner Adam Putnam. Employees are being told they ‘work for the NRA,’ not the people of Florida, concealed weapons permits are being handed out like lollipops – what egregious breach of trust will be exposed next? This is life and death. If Rick Scott won’t stand up and remove Putnam from public office, voters will. We’ve had it with lies, corruption, and the priorities of deep pocketed special interest groups being placed over public interest.”
