See Conservation Rocks at PSC Energy Awareness Month Event

DeSoto Trail Elementary School fourth graders will make Conservation Rock tomorrow at the Florida Public Service Commission’s (PSC) Energy Awareness Month event.

PSC Executive Director Braulio Baez will share energy conservation tips with students, who will then paint conservation rocks to be placed throughout Tallahassee and Florida. The students’ art and conservation messages will rock Florida on Twitter and Facebook!

The Conservation Rocks event is scheduled for the following time and location:

Public Power Utilities Impacted By Hurricane Michael Continue Power Restoration And Rebuilding Efforts

According to the Florida Municipal Electric Association (FMEA), approximately 16,500 north Florida public power utility customers remain without power following Hurricane Michael. Power restoration efforts continue day and night. Significant progress has been in the City of Tallahassee, which is 90 percent restored (approximately 10,000 customers are without power), and in the Town of Havana, 100 percent of customers who can accept power have been restored. Governor Rick Scott today welcomed 50 Florida Highway Patrol State Troopers from around the state to the Florida Governor’s Mansion for dinner. Following dinner, 35 of the State Troopers will sleep over night prior to their deployment to the Gulf Coast tomorrow morning. Governor Rick Scott today offered each utility in Florida the additional federal push crews to augment the ability of power restoration workers to reach communities allowing them to restore power faster.
