More than 300 Floridians Attend CRC Public Hearing in Northwest Florida

More than 300 Floridians attended a public hearing held by the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) on February 27 in Pensacola at the University of West Florida (UWF) as part of its’ “Road to the Ballot” public hearing tour.

At UWF, more than 140 individuals requested to speak before the CRC and more than 300 attended the public hearing.  All Floridians who attended the public hearing and wanted to speak were given an opportunity to be heard by the CRC. To watch the public hearing held in Pensacola, visit the Florida Channel’s website which has a page dedicated to all CRC public hearings and meetings. Complete transcripts of the public hearing, appearance forms and documents received will be available online at flcrc.gov/Meeting/PublicHearings as soon as possible.

700 Floridians Attend CRC Public Hearing in Fort Lauderdale

Approximately 700 Floridians attended a public hearing held by the Constitution Revision Commission (CRC) on Tuesday, February 6 at Nova Southeastern University’s Rick Case Arena as part of its, “Road to the Ballot” public hearing tour. At the public hearing, more than 330 individual Floridians requested to speak before the CRC and approximately 700 attended the hearing. The public hearing lasted nearly eight hours and extended past the noticed end time of 7:00 PM. All Floridians who attended the public hearing and wanted to speak were given an opportunity to be heard by the CRC.

To watch the public hearing held in Fort Lauderdale, visit the Florida Channel’s website which has a page dedicated to all CRC public hearings and meetings. A complete transcript of the public hearing and appearance forms will be available online at flcrc.gov as soon as possible. The next public hearings held by the CRC will be on Monday, February 19 in Melbourne and Tuesday, February 20 in Jacksonville. Both public hearings are noticed from 1:00-7:00 PM local time. The goal of upcoming public hearings is to give Floridians an opportunity to provide feedback on the 37 proposals under active consideration by the CRC. U.S. 1 Roundabout at Old Dixie Highway Public Hearing Next Week

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will hold a public hearing about the proposed design of a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 1/State Road 5 and Old Dixie Highway next Thursday, Jan. 18, at the Community Baptist Church, 956 S. Old Dixie Highway in Bunnell. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 6 p.m., followed by a comment period.
The goal of the project is to improve safety and mobility at the intersection. No additional right of way will be required. The hearing will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about the design concept, speak with project team representatives and provide input.

State Road (S.R.) A1A Public Hearing

South 22nd Street to South 9th Street permanent repairs


The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is holding a public hearing regarding the portion of S.R. A1A from South 22nd Street to South 9th Street. The department is designing permanent repairs as a result of damage caused by Hurricane Matthew and other coastal storm events. The project is funded for construction in summer of 2018, after July 1. No additional right of way will be required. Other information:

  • Estimated cost is $4.99 million
  • The new road will have two lanes (one in each direction) and a median in portions of the section; the intent of the median is to retain storm water runoff
  • Recommended posted speed limit of 30 miles-per-hour
  • The project also proposes installing sand and native plantings on the east side SR A1A between the road and the right of way line.

The hearing is Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Flagler Beach Methodist Church, 1520 South Daytona Avenue, Flagler Beach, Florida 32136. The purpose of this hearing is to introduce the project and present the design concept to the public. The hearing will begin as an open house at 5:30 p.m. A formal presentation will begin at 6 p.m., followed by a comment period. A court reporter will prepare a verbatim transcript of the proceedings. FDOT DISTRICT FIVE WORK PROGRAM PUBLIC HEARING AND MEETINGS

FDOT Hearing Goes Online

DeLand – Beginning October 9, 2017  the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Five will hold a week-long online public hearing for its Tentative Five Year Work Program for Fiscal Years 2018/2019 through 2022/2023, which is used to forecast funds needed for transportation system improvements. The online hearing provides information on projects across nine counties in East-Central Florida.

The annual online public hearing will be held online October 9-13, 2017 at www.D5WPPH.com. The material will be available 24 hours a day, and can be reviewed any time during the online hearing dates.

The online public hearing and public information outreach will also include consideration of proposed projects for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise. The work program outlines transportation improvements for all modes of transportation including:

                           Roadway

Multi-modal transit

                           Bicycle

Pedestrian

                           Freight

Aviation

                           Seaports

Space

                           Enhancement projects, such as trails

The five-year work program also provides clear direction on where to build projects, when to build projects, and how to fund projects. It is FDOT’s mission to provide a safe transportation system that ensures the mobility of people and goods, enhances economic prosperity, and preserves the quality of our environment and community.

Here is the schedule for the online public hearing, and the location for the public information outreach day. FDOT staff will be present at the Florida Department of Transportation District Office and available to answer questions.

FDOT holds public hearing for Babcock Street improvements

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public hearing 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at the Captain’s House located at 1300 Bianca Drive N.E. in Palm Bay, regarding the design plans for proposed improvements to Babcock Street (State Road (S.R.) 507).
The project begins at Malabar Road (S.R. 514) and extends north to Palm Bay Road (County Road (C.R.) 516), a distance of approximately 2.5 miles.
The proposed improvements include widening Babcock Street to a six-lane, divided roadway and will include bicycle lanes and sidewalks. The design will also include a northbound bridge replacement and a southbound bridge widening over the Melbourne-Tillman Canal. The design is scheduled for completion in 2018.
The purpose of this public hearing is to present information and receive public input regarding the proposed access changes related to the proposed widening of Babcock Street (S.R. 507). It begins with an open house at 5:30 p.m., when participants may review project information and discuss the project with staff. There is a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m., after which participants may provide comments to all present. The hearing ends at 7:30 p.m. Staff members will be available to discuss the project and answer any questions before and after the presentation.
Participants may provide public comments directly to a court reporter at any time during the hearing. Written comments can be submitted at this hearing, by mail to Beata Stys-Pałasz, FDOT Project Manager, 719 South Woodland Boulevard, DeLand, FL 32720 or by e-mail to [email protected] no later than Friday, July 28, 2017. Public Hearing for SR 29 Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study

From CR 80A (Cowboy Way) to CR 731 (Whidden Road) in Glades and Hendry Counties

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), District One, is hosting a public hearing, as part of the Project Development and Environment (PD&E) Study for proposed improvements to State Road (SR) 29 from CR 80A (Cowboy Way) to CR 731 (Whidden Road) in Hendry and Glades Counties, Florida. The project consists of widening SR 29 to four-lanes within the project limits, including the addition of a new bridge over the Caloosahatchee River.
The public hearing will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at LaBelle Civic Center, 481 Highway 80 West (behind City Hall), LaBelle, FL, 33935.  
An open house begins at 5 p.m. where people can view the recommended conceptual plans, draft project documents and other project-related materials.  Department representatives will be available beginning at 5 p.m. to discuss the project and answer questions. The formal portion of the hearing will begin at 6 p.m., and will include introductory remarks by the hearing moderator, a video presentation describing the project, and a public comment period.  Written comments will also be accepted. Following the formal portion, the informal open house will resume and continue until 7 p.m.
The draft project documents and other information are available for public review through July 10, 2017 at the Barron Library, 461 N Main Street, LaBelle. Business hours are: Monday & Thursday – 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday – 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on the project website.
This hearing offers people the opportunity to express their views about the location; conceptual design; and social, economic, and environmental effects of the widening of SR 29 to four-lanes, including the addition of a new bridge over the Caloosahatchee River.
FDOT representatives will be present to answer questions prior to and following the formal portion of the hearing.  Interested parties may submit written comments at the hearing or at a later date to Ms. Gwen G.
