Governor Rick Scott announced that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is providing $1.2 million to enhance research and production of redfish at the FWC Stock Enhancement Research Facility at Port Manatee. Governor Rick Scott today announced that the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is providing an additional $3 million in grant funding to assist local communities impacted by red tide. Governor Scott Activates Emergency Bridge Loan Program to Assist Small Businesses Impacted by Blue-Green Algae and Red Tide

Governor Rick Scott has directed the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity (DEO) to activate the Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program to support small businesses who continue to be affected by the Lake Okeechobee algal bloom and impacts from naturally occurring red tide. The bridge loan program, managed by DEO, provides short-term, interest-free loans to small businesses experiencing physical or economic loss. Emergency Grant Program, $900,000 for Lee County Red Tide Clean-Up

Governor Rick Scott today issued Executive Order 18-221 declaring a state of emergency due to impacts of red tide in Collier, Lee, Charlotte, Sarasota, Manatee, Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
