A portion of Maitland Summit Boulevard, north of the Maitland Boulevard (State Road 414) intersection, will be closed this weekend as I-4 Ultimate construction crews work to place girders for the new westbound Maitland Boulevard overpass.
The Maitland Summit Boulevard continuous weekend closure will begin at 8 p.m. on Friday, February 24, and will reopen by 6 a.m. on Monday, February 27. Detour routes for the continuous weekend closure of Maitland Summit Boulevard, north of Maitland Boulevard intersection, are available online at http://fdot.tips/Summit.
The I-4 Ultimate project is elevating Maitland Boulevard between Maitland Summit Boulevard and Lake Destiny Road, adding ramp access points and eliminating select traffic signals to promote better traffic flow. Bridges are currently being constructed for westbound Maitland Boulevard over Lake Destiny Road, Keller Road and Maitland Summit Boulevard. The Don’t let traffic delays keep you from missing the first pitch of the Atlanta Braves 2017 Grapefruit League home opener, as the team returns to Orlando to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, February 25. The Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Florida 511 Traveler Information System provides real-time traffic information to help drivers avoid congestion and experience fewer delays while driving to the Braves spring training home at Champion Stadium in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Before hitting the road, Braves fans can plan their commute to the ballpark by visiting the interactive roadway map on the user-friendly FL511.com website for traffic incident alerts or to view roadway cameras showing current nearby driving conditions.
At the end of the game, fans can check the free Florida 511 mobile app, available on Google Play or the Apple App Store, to find out if congestion or traffic incidents will delay their planned post-game commute. The app can also be used to select an alternate route.

RoadWatch Advisory for I-75 in Charlotte/Sarasota Counties
CHARLOTTE COUNTY
I-75 from south of Harborview Road (mile marker 167) to Sumter Boulevard (mile marker 182): Construction project: This project widens the road from four to six lanes and adds a 12-foot travel lane and 10-foot shoulder to the inside of existing northbound and southbound I-75.
- Motorists should expect lane closures on I-75 during nighttime/overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. through the duration of the construction.
- Motorists should also expect periodic travel lane shifts through the duration of construction.
- Motorists should expect the inside northbound lane on the bridge over the Peace River closed through the duration of the project.
- Toledo Blade Boulevard will be reduced to one lane during nighttime/overnight hours from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Monday, February 20 and will continue for three weeks.
- I-75 northbound off ramp to Toledo Blade Boulevard will be closed during nighttime/overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 21 and Wednesday, February 22.
Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area. Estimated completion is end of 2017. The contractor is Astaldi Construction Corporation.
RoadWatch Advisory: New Traffic Pattern for US 41/Venice Bypass in Sarasota County
SARASOTA COUNTY
US 41/Venice By-Pass from Gulf Coast Boulevard to Bird Bay Drive: Construction project: Crews continue installing utility and storm drain systems and constructing temporary pavement. Expect intermittent nighttime/overnight northbound and southbound lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. throughout the project limits while crews are working.
Southbound Traffic Shift: Traffic on southbound US 41 from Bird Bay to Warfield Road will shift to the newly constructed lanes along the west side of the road during the nighttime/overnight hours on Sunday, February 19. Use caution and pay close attention while driving throughout the project limits.
Northbound Traffic Shift: Traffic on northbound US 41 from Ridgewood to Bird Bay will shift to the newly constructed lanes along the west side of the road during the nighttime/overnight hours on Monday, February 20. Use caution and pay close attention while driving throughout the project limits.
Motorists should be mindful of the construction signs in place and traffic control officers and use caution while traveling through the project area. Bergeron Land Development is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2018.
Detour planned for C.R. 470 at I-75 in Sumterville
County Road (C.R.) 470 underneath the Interstate 75 (I-75) overpass bridge will be closed for two nights. From 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15 and Thursday, Feb. 16, a detour will be in effect. The route will be as follows:
- Northbound I-75 traffic headed to westbound C.R. 470 will be directed to exit at State Road (S.R.) 44 (Exit 329) and access C.R. 470 via I-75 south. Northbound I-75 traffic traveling to eastbound C.R. 470 will not be impacted.
- Southbound I-75 traffic headed to eastbound C.R. 470 will be directed to exit at S.R. 48 (Exit 314) and access C.R. 470 via I-75 north. Southbound I-75 traffic traveling to westbound C.R. 470 will not be impacted.
- Eastbound C.R. 470 traffic headed to I-75 north will be directed to travel I-75 south to S.R. 48 (Exit 314), and re-enter the interstate using the northbound entrance ramp. Eastbound C.R. 470 traffic continuing on C.R. 470 will follow the same detour and exit northbound I-75 at C.R. 470. Eastbound C.R. 470 traffic traveling to southbound I-75 will not be impacted.
- Westbound C.R. 470 traffic headed to I-75 south will be directed to travel I-75 north to S.R. 44 (Exit 329), and re-enter the interstate using the southbound entrance ramp. Westbound C.R. 470 traffic continuing on C.R. 470 will follow the same detour and exit southbound I-75 at C.R. 470. Westbound C.R. 470 traffic traveling to northbound I-75 will not be impacted.
- Northbound C.R. 475 traffic headed to westbound C.R. 470 will be directed to travel north on I-75 to S.R. 44 (Exit 329), re-enter the interstate using the southbound entrance ramp, and exit at C.R. 470, bypassing the road closure. Southbound C.R. 475 traffic and northbound C.R. 475 traffic traveling to eastbound C.R. 470 will not be impacted.
In addition to closing a portion of C.R. 470, the southbound off ramp at Exit 321 will be closed for a duration of 10 to 15 minutes on both Wednesday and Thursday nights. The closure is required for the contractor, D.A.B. Constructors Inc., to set beams for the new C.R. 470 bridge. The work is part of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) I-75 widening project from C.R. 470 to just south of Florida’s Turnpike.

Feedback Sought for State Road 464 Safety Improvements
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will have a public hearing about safety improvements on State Road 464/SE Maricamp Road at SE 53rd Avenue/Rotary Sportsplex, in Marion County.
The project will discuss changing the full median opening at SE 53rd Avenue to a directional median. This modification will improve safety by reducing conflict points—too many conflict points can increase the probability of vehicle crashes and injury.
The public hearing will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Marion County Growth Services Training Room, 2710 E. Silver Springs Boulevard, Ocala, FL 34470. There will be an open house at 5 p.m. during which staff will be available to discuss the project and answer questions, followed by the formal hearing presentation at 6 p.m., after which participants may provide their verbal comments to all present.

With more than 100,000 spectators expected to pack the grandstand and infield at the Daytona International Speedway during the Speedweeks at Daytona 2017, the Florida Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) Florida 511 Traveler Information System can help stock car racing fans find the easiest route to the iconic racetrack.
Before hitting the road, visitors and residents can check Florida 511 for up-to-date traffic information about congestion, crashes, closures and construction on all of Florida’s interstates, toll roads and major metropolitan roadways.
And because the traffic information is free, Florida 511 may prove to be a motorsport fan’s best friend during the nine-day event that begins on Saturday, February 18 and culminates with the 59th running of the Daytona 500 race on Sunday, February 26.

POLK COUNTY
I-4 from the east end of the Polk Parkway to the Osceola County line: Construction project: Watch for eastbound lane closures at night/overnight from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., Wednesday, February 8, while crews continue removing and replacing two overhead DMS (dynamic message signs) approximately one mile east of SR 570 (Polk Parkway), Exit 41, and just east of CR 557/Lake Alfred, Exit 48. This work began Tuesday, February 7, but was postponed due to rain. Plan for potential delays and remember speeding fines double when workers are present.
Crews also postponed westbound sign replacement and lane closures originally scheduled for tonight until nighttime/overnight Tuesday, February 14.
Improvements under this contract include installing wind, precipitation, visibility and atmospheric sensors, thermal infrared cameras, flashing beacon signs and replacing the amber dynamic message signs with full-color dynamic message signs. Expected completion is fall 2017. The contractor is Transcore ITS.
