RoadWatch Advisory for US 441 N over Taylor Creek Bridge in Okeechobee County

OKEECHOBEE COUNTY

North Parrott Avenue (US 441 North) Over Taylor Creek:  Construction project: Work is underway to remove and replace a portion of the bridge over Taylor Creek. Additional improvements include removal and replacement of guardrail, pavement markings, and installation of pile jackets, which are stay-in-place forms that are installed around the bridge supports and filled with concrete. During construction, we ask motorists and pedestrians to use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway. Motorists should expect periodic lane closures as part of the construction process. Estimated project completion is summer 2018. The contractor is Cone & Graham, Inc.

  • Parrott Avenue (US 441) full bridge closure – from 7 p.m., Friday,   May 11, to 7 a.m., Monday, May 14. The bridge over Taylor Creek will be closed at this time so please follow posted detour signs.
  • Upon completion of the detour, lane closures on US 441 will occur overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. throughout the duration of the project, weather permitting. Please drive safely and watch for construction crews in the work zone.

RoadWatch Advisory for I-75/ University Parkway Interchange in Sarasota and Manatee Counties

I-75 (SR 93) / University Parkway Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) Sarasota/Bradenton:  Construction project:

Temporary Night/Overnight Ramp Closure at I-75/University Parkway Interchange

Tuesday, May 1 through Thursday, May 3

Detour – I-75 Northbound On-Ramp Closure at the I-75/University Parkway Interchange: 

The contractor anticipates implementing a temporary detour route at the I-75/University Parkway interchange at night/overnight Tuesday, May 1 through Thursday, May 3 between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to repair asphalt pavement.

Motorists traveling on University Parkway wishing to travel north on I-75 are directed to enter southbound I-75, exit at Fruitville Road/Exit 210, travel east and enter northbound I-75 and continue north.

Improvements being made as part of this project consist of constructing a diverging diamond interchange, adding an auxiliary lane on northbound and southbound I-75, constructing new bridges on  I-75 over University Parkway, widening of University Parkway, widening of I-75 bridges over Errie Creek and Foley Creek, realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps at I-75/University Parkway, addition of ponds, drainage improvements, new lighting and signalization, construction of a noise wall on the west side of I-75, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. RoadWatch Advisory for SR 80 in Lee County

SR 80/Palm Beach Boulevard from Buckingham Road to Hickeys Creek: Maintenance contract project: Motorists should expect intermittent eastbound and westbound lane closures during nighttime/overnight hours from Sunday, April 29 through Friday, May 4, while crews apply pavement markings, weather permitting.  Motorists should use caution and expect delays.

RoadWatch Advisory for US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street in Sarasota County

SARASOTA COUNTY

US 41 from Browning Street to 11th Street: Construction project: Crews are resurfacing the roadway; installing new drainage; installing highway lighting, curb and gutter; constructing new sidewalk, and installing new signing and pavement markings. Expect nighttime/overnight lane closures on US 41; US 301; Fruitville Road, and Orange Avenue while crews are working. Crews are constructing a new right turn-lane from northbound US 41 to Fruitville Road. Once constructed, the existing right turn-lane will be closed to traffic. Crews will then construct a pedestrian island and improve drainage. Beginning Sunday, April 15, the outside northbound lane of US 41 at Fruitville Road will close to traffic for approximately two weeks. Motorists wishing to turn right onto Fruitville Road will do so from the middle lane, which will also serve as a northbound thru lane. The inside lane will remain a dedicated thru lane.Nighttime/overnight northbound outside lane closures are also expected from 9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning while crews are working. Preferred Materials, Inc. is the contractor. Expected completion is spring 2018.

Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.

RoadWatch Advisory for US 17 in Hardee County

HARDEE COUNTY

US 17 from south of West 9th Street to north of West 3rd Street: Construction project: Crews are constructing a new four-lane concrete roadway using the old railroad corridor along Oak Street to realign this 1-mile segment. The contractor is installing curb and gutter, 7-footbike lanes, sidewalks, and a 52-foot raised median to separate the northbound and southbound lanes of traffic. The project also includes installing a new underground drainage system and two storm water ponds to manage water running off the roadway. Estimated completion is fall 2018. The contractor is AJAX Paving Industries of Florida. New US 17 is now open to all southbound and northbound traffic.  The sidewalks are open so please use caution and watch for pedestrians.

  • Motorists should expect southbound and northbound intermittent lane closures on the new US 17 during daytime and nighttime hours Wednesday, April 11 through Friday, April 13 for crews to complete road work. 

Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.

Ramp Closure Scheduled for Southbound U.S. 17/92 Ramp to Westbound S.R. 414

Beginning tomorrow, Feb. 27, the southbound U.S. 17/92 ramp to westbound S.R. 414 will be closed through March 1 between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Traffic will be routed south on U.S. 17/92, west on Horatio Avenue then north on North Maitland Avenue to Maitland Boulevard.

The closure will allow workers to safely complete asphalt milling and resurfacing of the ramp.

Electronic message boards and other signage will be used to direct motorists. Please note that this schedule may change due to weather or other unexpected conditions. RoadWatch Advisory for SR 70 from L7 Ranch Road to Southwind Road in Highlands County

SR 70 from L7 Ranch Road to Southwind Road in Lake Placid: Maintenance contract project: Crews will be milling and resurfacing  3 ½ miles of road from L7 Ranch Road to Southwind Road on State Road 70 in Lake Placid. On Thursday, March 1st and Friday, March 2nd from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. motorists should expect single lane closures for eastbound and westbound traffic with flagging operations on SR 70 from L7 Ranch Road to Southwind Road.  Motorists are advised to use caution in this area and obey the posted speed limits.

Lane Closures – Northbound I-75 On and Off Ramps at the I-75/University Parkway Interchange:

Wednesday, February 21. Details below:

The contractor anticipates implementing temporary single lane closures on northbound and southbound ramps of I-75/University Parkway interchange at night/overnight Wednesday, February 21 between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. while crews place the final layer of asphalt on the ramp. All ramps will remain open.

Improvements being made as part of this project consist of constructing a diverging diamond interchange, adding an auxiliary lane on northbound and southbound I-75, constructing new bridges on  I-75 over University Parkway, widening of University Parkway, widening of I-75 bridges over Errie Creek and Foley Creek, realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps at I-75/University Parkway, addition of ponds, drainage improvements, new lighting and signalization, construction of a noise wall on the west side of I-75, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways. RoadWatch Advisory for I-75 in Charlotte County

CHARLOTTE COUNTY

I-75 from N. Jones Loop Road (exit 161) to US 17 (exit 164): Construction project: Work continues to widen approximately four miles of the interstate from four to six lanes and widen the bridges over N. Jones Loop Road (exit #161) and Marion Avenue/Riverside Drive/Seminole Gulf Railway.  The project also includes roadway safety improvements and bridge work under I-75 on N. Jones Loop Road, US 17, and Marion Avenue/Riverside Drive.

  • Motorists should expect northbound I-75 traffic to be slowed at the North Jones Loop Road interchange (exit 161) for approximately 15-20 minutes between the nighttime/overnight hours of 8 p.m. – 10 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14 for crews to move a crane.  Exit and entrance ramps will remain open.  Law enforcement officers will be onsite to assist. 
  • Motorists should expect Marion Avenue/Riverside Drive fully CLOSED under I-75 for crews to complete bridgework, safety improvements, and roadway work.  This closure is scheduled to remain in place until late spring 2018, weather permitting.  The closure applies to all vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists.  
    • Motorists on Marion Avenue, west of the interstate may use Marion Avenue to Marlympia Way to reach US 17.
    • Motorists on Riverside Drive, east of the interstate may use Riverside Drive to Regent Road to reach US 17.
  • Motorists should expect one lane closed in each direction on I-75 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday night through Saturday morning for crews to work in the median. 
  • Motorists should expect lane closures on North Jones Loop Road during daytime hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday for crews to complete bridgework. 
  • Motorists should expect I-75 travel lanes from N. Jones Loop Road to south of the bridge over the Peace River shifted to the outside of the roadway.

Variable message signs will be in place to alert drivers that work is underway. Drivers should use caution while traveling in this area and be alert to trucks entering and exiting roadways in the work zone. Estimated completion is early 2019, weather permitting. The contractor is Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC.

RoadWatch Advisory: Rucks Dairy Road Bridge in Highlands County

HIGHLANDS COUNTY
Rucks Dairy Road Bridge Over C-41 Canal/Slough: Construction project: Crews will build a new two-lane bridge to replace the current one lane bridge. Construction of the new bridge is next to the current bridge. On Thursday, January 18th and Wednesday, January 19th, crews will be paving the lanes on the bridge. Motorists should expect single lane closures with flagging operations on Rucks Dairy Road bridge. Motorists should follow the new traffic pattern and travel through the work zone during these times. Additional improvements will include resurfacing a portion of the road approaching the new bridge, drainage enhancements, new guardrails and updated signage. Expected project completion is spring 2018.
