The Florida Department of Transportation’s I-75 at University Parkway, Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) project was recognized today by a consortium of national transportation organizations as one of 12 finalists in the “America’s Transportation Awards” competition. The online voting that begins today will now determine the national Grand Prize and the People’s Choice Awards and a cash prize state departments of transportation can use for educational scholarships or non-profits in their home states. Lucky Sarasota man becomes $1 million richer playing $10,000,000 WORLD CLASS CASH Scratch-Off game

The Florida Lottery announces that Lubomir Richvalsky, 60, of Sarasota, claimed a $1 million prize in the $10,000,000 WORLD CLASS CASH Scratch-Off game at Florida Lottery Headquarters in Tallahassee. He chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $748,000.00.

Richvalsky purchased his winning ticket from Publix, located at 8409 Tamiami Trail South in Sarasota. The retailer will receive a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning Scratch-Off ticket.

The $25 game, $10,000,000 WORLD CLASS CASH, features more than $549 million in total cash prizes, including two top prizes of $10 million and 46 prizes of $1 million! Overall odds of winning are one-in-2.89.

Scratch-Offs are an important part of the Lottery’s portfolio of games, generating more than $784 million for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund (EETF) in FY 2016-17, and comprising approximately 68 percent of ticket sales.

Temporary Night/Overnight Ramp Closure at I-75/University Parkway Interchange

Tuesday, May 1 through Thursday, May 3

Detour – I-75 Northbound On-Ramp Closure at the I-75/University Parkway Interchange: 

The contractor anticipates implementing a temporary detour route at the I-75/University Parkway interchange at night/overnight Tuesday, May 1 through Thursday, May 3 between 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to repair asphalt pavement.

Motorists traveling on University Parkway wishing to travel north on I-75 are directed to enter southbound I-75, exit at Fruitville Road/Exit 210, travel east and enter northbound I-75 and continue north.

Improvements being made as part of this project consist of constructing a diverging diamond interchange, adding an auxiliary lane on northbound and southbound I-75, constructing new bridges on  I-75 over University Parkway, widening of University Parkway, widening of I-75 bridges over Errie Creek and Foley Creek, realignment of on-ramps and off-ramps at I-75/University Parkway, addition of ponds, drainage improvements, new lighting and signalization, construction of a noise wall on the west side of I-75, sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian walkways.
